Irbid
Irbid (), known in ancient times as Arabella or Arbela (Άρβηλα in Ancient Greek language, Ancient Greek), is the capital and largest city of Irbid Governorate. It has the second-largest metropolitan population in Jordan after Amman, with a population of around 2,003,800. As a city, Irbid is Jordan's third-largest, after Amman and Zarqa. Irbid is located about north of Amman on the northern ridge of the Gilead, equidistant from Pella, Jordan, Pella, Beit Ras (Capitolias), and Um Qais, and approximately south of the Syrian border. Yarmouk University (), also abbreviated YU, is a comprehensive public and state supported university located near the city centre of Irbid in northern Jordan. Since its establishment in 1976, it has been at the forefront of Jordanian and Middle Eastern universities. Kufrsoum Sports Club () is a Jordanian football club which is based in the village of Kufr Soum, Jordan. It currently competes in the Jordanian First Division League, the second tier of Jordanian football. History Kufrsoum Sports Club was established in 1973, when a group of young people from the village of Kufr Soum sought to establish a sports club, to which the club began its activities in football, handball, volleyball, athletics, and table tennis once they were granted approval. Al-Arabi Irbid Sports Club () is a football club based in Irbid, Jordan which currently competes in the Jordanian First Division League, the second tier of Jordanian football. History Al-Arabi Sports Club's origins began when a group of 22 young intellectuals were interested in establishing a place, where they could gather and practice their various hobbies.
