''Milliyet'' ( Turkish for "''nationality''") is a daily newspaper published in Istanbul, Turkey. History and profile ''Milliyet'' came to publishing life at the Nuri Akça press in Babıali, Istanbul as a daily private newspaper on 3 May 1950. Its owner was Ali Naci Karacan. After his death in 1955 the paper was published by his son, Encüment Karacan. For a number of years the person who made his mark on the paper as the editor-in-chief was Abdi İpekçi. İpekçi managed to raise the standards of the Turkish press by introducing his journalistic criteria. On 1 February 1979, İpekçi was murdered by Mehmet Ali Ağca, who would later attempt to assassinate the Pope John Paul II. Ezel Akay (born 20 January 1961) is a Turkish film actor, film director and film producer. Life and work After Ezel Akay graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Boğaziçi University, he was trained as actor at the US-American Villanova University. Before Ezel Akay started to work in the Turkish film business and co-founded the Turkish production company ''IFR'', he worked as copywriter, theatre director and –actor. Since the foundation of his film production company ''IFR'', Ezel Akay directed more than 500 commercials. Mert Akay (born 12 July 2000) is a Turkish professional basketball player for Dynamic Belgrade of the Basketball League of Serbia. Professional career Akay grew up with the youth system of Darüşşafaka. In the 2018–19 season, he became a regular member of Darüşşafaka's senior team. On 25 January 2019, Akay made his EuroLeague debut for Darüşşafaka against Kirolbet Baskonia making his only three-point attempt in under 2 minutes of playing time. Sezgi Sena Akay (born 31 October 1994) is a Turkish actress, former professional volleyball player, presenter, and model who was crowned Best Model of the World 2012. She is the youngest and 42nd titleholder in the pageant's history and the fourth woman from Turkey to win Best Model of the World. She previously won Best Model of Turkey 2012. Şenay Akay (born 16 August 1980) is a Turkish actress and former model. Biography Akay was born in 1980 in Antalya. She is the niece of singer Müammer Akay. She finished her studies at Akdeniz University. She started modelling at the age of 14. In 2001, she won both Best Model of Turkey and Best Model of the World competitions respectively. In 2012, she wrote a book on 17 years of her life as a model. She still continues modelling at a number of fashion shows and appears on the podium occasionally.
