Aidarbek Qojanazarov
Aidarbek Asanuly Qojanazarov (; born 26 November 1983) is a Kazakh businessman and politician. He is currently serving as a Deputy of the Mäjilis of the VIII convocation (2023) and leader of the Respublica Party. He previously served as CEO of Olzha Agro (2019 – March 2023) and Ivolga Holding (2017–2019). Biography Qojanazarov was born in Kyzylorda on 26 November 1983, to a family of educators. His mother Rosa Smaiylova (born 6 March 1962) taught mathematics at school, while his father Asan Qojanazarov (born 15 May 1955) held a PhD in Chemistry and was a university lecturer. Aidarbek's name was suggested by his grandfather to commemorate his younger brother Aidarbek Qojanazarov who perished in the Second World War. The Mäjilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (; ), commonly shortened as Mäjilis or Mazhilis ( Kazakh Cyrillic: Мәжіліс , 'Assembly'), is the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, alongside the upper house Senate. Together, they form the national bicameral legislature of Kazakhstan, responsible for enacting legislation. Established by the Constitution of Kazakhstan following the 1995 constitutional referendum, the Mäjilis was first convened in 1996. The chamber plays role in the legislative process, debating and passing laws, where lawmakers discuss key issues facing the country and propose solutions to address them by representing the interests of constituents. COVID-19 Pandemic In Kazakhstan
The COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan was a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The virus was confirmed to have reached Kazakhstan on 13 March 2020 after two Kazakh citizens in Almaty returned from Germany. That same day, two more cases were confirmed, with one female arriving from Italy in Astana and the other from Germany in Almaty as well. Following the outbreak, on 15 March 2020, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared a state of emergency that was initially set to last until 15 April 2020. However, measures were prolonged in order to curb the transmission of the virus, leading to many notable holidays such as Nowruz and the Victory Day being cancelled.
