Ada Township, Michigan
Ada Township ( ) is a civil township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 14,388 at the 2020 census. The majority of the township is included in the Forest Hills census-designated place, which is used only for statistical purposes. Ada Township is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is about east of the city of Grand Rapids. The township is the corporate home of Alticor and its subsidiary companies Amway North America and Amway. Communities Ada, also known as Ada Village, is an unincorporated community within the township. It is located on M-21, about east of Grand Rapids. Ada contains its own post office with the 49301 ZIP Code that serves the majority of the township. Detroit, Grand Haven And Milwaukee Railway
The Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway is a defunct railroad which operated in the US state of Michigan during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Itself the product of several consolidations in the 1870s, it became part of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad in 1928. The DGH&M was formed from the ruin of Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad, a successor road to the Detroit and Pontiac Railroad, one of the first roads organized in the state of Michigan. The Great Western Railway, a Canadian company, had taken financial control of the D&M in 1860 after it defaulted on debt payments. Rix Robinson
Eduardo Rix Robinson (August 28, 1789 – January 12, 1875) was an American fur trader and politician. He was the first permanent Euro-American settler of Kent County, Michigan, a representative to the state constitutional convention of 1850 and a state senator. Early years Robinson was born August 28, 1789, in Richmond, Massachusetts. His parents were Edward and Eunice (Rix) Robinson of Preston, Connecticut. His father was a blacksmith and farmer. M-21 (Michigan Highway)
M-21 is an east–west state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan connecting the cities of Grand Rapids and Flint. The highway passes through rural farming country and several small towns along its course through the Lower Peninsula. Following the course of a handful of rivers, M-21 also connects some of the state's freeways like Interstate 96 (I-96), US Highway 127 (US 127) and I-75. The highway is used by between 1,700 and 36,000 vehicles daily. M-21 was designated along the highway by July 1, 1919 between Ionia and Goodells near Port Huron.
