''Action Autographs'' is an American television talk show that was broadcast on ABC April 24, 1949 - January 8, 1950. Overview ''Action Autographs'' used films "to drop in on many interesting people and watch their activities". Episodes included interviews and "human-interest films". Jack Brand was the initial host; Ed Prentiss succeeded him. Topics of episodes included: the Shark Men ("World War II's most incredible combat team"), a four-month hunt for gold, a water show, psychoanalysis of Richard Basehart's character in the film ''She Walks at Night,'' and harness racing. Ed Prentiss
Paul Edward Prentiss (September 9, 1908 – March 19, 1992) was an actor in the era of old-time radio.DeLong, Thomas A. (1996). He was perhaps best known for portraying the title role on the radio version of ''Captain Midnight''. Early years Prentiss was born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Iowa. ''For Your Pleasure'' is an American variety television program that was broadcast on NBC from April 15, 1948, until September 10, 1949. First run Kyle MacDonnell starred in the 15-minute unsponsored program, which also featured the Norman Paris Trio, an instrumental combo. They were supplemented by dancing duos (Jack and Jill, April until June 1948, and Blaire and Deane, June until September 1948). The format had MacDonnell in a nightclub visiting with patrons and singing one or two songs. MacDonnell's starring role (her first on television) resulted from an NBC executive's seeing her perform on Broadway in the revue '' Make Mine Manhattan'', which opened in January 1948. John Royal, who was the network's vice-president of new developments, decided that he wanted to audition MacDonnell for TV. Richard Basehart
John Richard Basehart (August 31, 1914 – September 17, 1984) was an American actor. Known for his "deep, resonant baritone voice and craggy good looks," he was active in film, theatre and television from 1947 until 1983. He won two National Board of Review Awards, for his performances in '' Fourteen Hours'' (1951) and ''Moby Dick'' (1956), and was nominated for a BAFTA Award for ''Time Limit'' (1957). Basehart was known to television viewers for starring as Admiral Harriman Nelson on the television science-fiction drama '' Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'' (1964–68). He also portrayed Wilton Knight in the pilot episode of the TV series '' Knight Rider'' (1982), and provided the narration that was heard during the opening credits throughout the entire series. Wilbur Shaw
Warren Wilbur Shaw (October 31, 1902 – October 30, 1954) was an American racing driver. The second three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 (1937, 1939 and 1940), he is also remembered for serving as president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1945 until his death in 1954. Early life Shaw was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on October 31, 1902. Racing career Shaw first participated in the 1927 Indianapolis 500. He eventually won the Indianapolis 500 race three times, in 1937, 1939, and 1940. Shaw was the second person to win the 500 three times, and the first to win it twice in a row. In 1939 and 1940, he won driving a Maserati 8CTF named the 'Boyle Special.'
