Abrasive (album)
''Abrasive'' is the debut studio album by the American rock band Puddle of Mudd. It was independently released on September 3, 1997, by the now-defunct Hardknocks Records. The album followed the band’s 1994 EP ''Stuck'' and includes early versions of several tracks that were later re-recorded for their major-label debut, '' Come Clean'' (2001). Background and production Following the success of their 1994 EP ''Stuck'' the band returned to Red House Studio in Lawrence, Kansas in 1996 to begin work on their full-length debut album. By this point, lead guitarist Jimmy Allen had exited the band, resulting in lead singer Wes Scantlin handling most of the songwriting duties himself while also tracking the album's rhythm guitar, with Sean Sammon on bass guitar and Kenny Burkitt on drums. Puddle of Mudd is an American post-grunge band formed in Kansas City, Missouri in 1992. The band has sold over seven million albums. Their major-label debut, '' Come Clean'' (2001), spawned the single " Blurry", which peaked at number 5 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and remains their signature song. The album sold over five million copies by 2003, and was followed by six additional albums, the latest of which is '' Kiss the Machine'' (2025). Douglas John Ardito (born March 10, 1971) is an American musician who was a member and played guitar as well as bass guitar for the band Puddle of Mudd. He is a Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Fender Musical Instruments endorsed artist. Career Ardito co-wrote Puddle of Mudd's biggest single, "Blurry". ''Guitar One Magazine'' voted Ardito's harmonic guitar part in "Blurry" as one of the "Top Ten Riffs of the Decade". The song reached the No. 1 spot on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks charts for ten and nine weeks. The Family Values Tour was an annual rock and hip hop tour held by the American nu metal band Korn since 1998. The first tour took place in 1998 and the second tour in 1999, but the tour took a hiatus in 2000 due to heavy competition from the Anger Management Tour, the Summer Sanitarium Tour, and others. The Family Values Tour happened again in 2001 before taking another hiatus, this time for four years. The Family Values Tour returned in 2006 with Korn and Deftones as the headliners.
