Aarhus Idrætsforening af 1900 commonly known as Århus 1900 is a Danish sports club from Århus in Denmark. It has sections for athletics, badminton, orienteering, swimming, triathlon, tennis, volley and football. The club is one of Denmark's biggest, and a number of athletes has participated in the Summer Olympic Games, World Championships and European Athletics Championships. European Athletics Championships
The European Athletics Championships is a biennial (from 2010) athletics event organised by the European Athletic Association and is recognised as the elite continental outdoor athletics championships for Europe. Editions First held, for men only, in 1934 in Turin, and separately for women for the first time in Vienna in 1938, the Championships took place every four years following the end of the World War II, with the exception of the 1969 and 1971 editions, becoming a joint men's and women's competition from the third edition in 1946 in Oslo. Since 2010, they have been organised every two years, and when they coincide with the Summer Olympics, the marathon and racewalking events are not contested. Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ) is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country where gymnastics and fencing were featured as its main sports. However, AGF is mostly known for its football department, which was established in 1902. Currently, the club's first team plays in the Danish Superliga, the top flight of the Danish football league system. AGF has won five Danish Football Championships and a shared record nine Danish Cups. In 1961, AGF reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup where they were knocked out by later winners, Benfica. Renata Pytelewska-Nielsen is a Polish-born former Danish long jumper. She was born on 18. May 1966 in Otwock, Mazowieckie, Poland. She participated in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. Christina Scherwin
Christina Scherwin (born 11 July 1976) is a Danish former javelin thrower and two-time Olympian. She is the Danish record holder in women's javelin. Career In her junior years Scherwin placed 6th at the 1993 European Junior Championships and 5th at the 1994 World Junior Championships. She was the NCAA Division III national women's javelin champion with Moravian University in 2002 and 2003, as well as record-holder. At the 2003 World University games in Daegu she finished second, throwing 56.08 metres. Scherwin represented Sparta at club level. In July 2004 Scherwin qualified for the javelin at the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics by throwing 59.36 metres, a Danish national record. Joachim Brøchner Olsen (born 31 May 1977) is a Danish former politician and former world class shot putter. He was elected to the Danish parliament at the 2011 election, representing the Liberal Alliance in the Greater Copenhagen constituency. As an athlete, he represented Århus 1900. With ten straight international finals, Joachim holds the longest string of appearances in finals at Olympic, World and European Championships among throwers.
