''A Caprice of Darling Caroline'' (French: ''Un caprice de Caroline chérie'') is a 1953 French historical comedy film directed by Jean Devaivre and starring Martine Carol, Jacques Dacqmine and Marthe Mercadier. It is based on the 1950 novel of the same title by Jacques Laurent. It was the sequel to the 1951 hit '' Darling Caroline''. It was shot at the Boulogne Studios in Paris. The film's sets were designed by the art director Jacques Krauss. It was one of the first French films to be shot in Technicolor. Jean Devaivre (born Jean-Justin de Vaivre) (1912–2004) was a French film director and screenwriter.Rège p.319 Additionally, he worked as a dubbing director, preparing foreign-language films for release in France. The film ''Safe Conduct'' (''Laissez-passer'', 2002) directed by Bertrand Tavernier is based on Devaivre's activities in the French film industry during the wartime Occupation of France. Alexandre Rignault (14 February 1901 – 2 April 1985) was a French actor. He appeared in more than a hundred films between 1931 and 1985. Biography He was born on February 14, 1901 in Paris 5th, at his parents' home, rue Guy-de-La-Brosse. His father was a mechanic, and his mother was a housewife. Jean-Claude Villeminot (24 October 1927 – 5 May 1992), better known as Jean-Claude Pascal (), was a French comedian, actor, singer and writer. Early life He was born in Paris into a family of wealthy textile manufacturers. His mother, Arlette Lemoine, was the great-granddaughter of English fashion designer Charles Frederick Worth. His father, Roger Villeminot, died the year of his birth. He began his secondary education in 1938 at the Collège Annel, in Compiègne, and concluded it at the Lycée Janson-de-Sailly in Paris. In 1944, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the 2nd Armored Division of General Leclerc.
