Distinguished Young Women
Distinguished Young Women, formerly known as America's Junior Miss, is a national non-profit organization that provides scholarship opportunities to high school senior girls. Depending on the schedule of the various state and local programs, young women are eligible during the summer preceding their senior year in high school. This program is designed to provide young women with the opportunity and support needed to succeed before, during, and after attending college. In addition, through the Distinguished Young Women Life Skills program, which includes workshops and online resources, participants can learn skills like interviewing, public speaking, self-confidence building and much more. Since its creation in 1958, over 700,000 young ladies have participated in competitions spanning the United States. Abrasive Jet Machining
Abrasive jet machining (AJM), also known as abrasive micro-blasting, pencil blasting and micro-abrasive blasting, is an abrasive blasting machining process that uses abrasives propelled by a high velocity gas to erode material from the workpiece. Common uses include cutting heat-sensitive, brittle, thin, or hard materials. Specifically it is used to cut intricate shapes or form specific edge shapes. Process Material is removed by fine abrasive particles, usually about in diameter, driven by a high velocity fluid stream; common gases are air or inert gases. Pressures for the gas range from 25 to 130 psig (170–900 kPa or 4 bars) and speeds can be as high as 300 m/s (1,000 km/h). Equipment AJM machines are usually self-contained bench-top units. First it compresses the gas and then mixes it with the abrasive in a mixing chamber. The Association des Juristes Maliennes (AJM), or Association of Women Jurists of Mali, is an organization which tries to promote and protect women's rights in Malian law. An apolitical organization, the AJM's membership consists of around fifty women lawyers, solicitors, magistrates and judges. It is a member organization of Groupe Pivot / Droits et Citoyenneté des Femmes (GP/DCF). Fatoumata Dembélé Diarra is a past president. History The AJM was officially established in 1988. In the 1990s it used funding from international aid agencies to provide mobile legal clinics to rural women in Mali, and broadcast a radio program, 'La Voix des Femmes'.
