AFI (band)
AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside) is an American Rock music, rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and following through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock. AFI has released eleven studio albums, ten Extended play, EPs, one live album and one DVD. David Paden Marchand (born David Paden Passaro, November 20, 1975), known professionally as Davey Havok, is an American singer who is the lead vocalist of the Rock music, rock band AFI (band), AFI, the synth-pop band Blaqk Audio, the hardcore punk band XTRMST, and the New wave music, new wave band Dreamcar. Among various other ventures, he performed lead vocals for Son of Sam (band), Son of Sam's Songs from the Earth, debut album and for fictional band My Purple Agony in the animated series ''Harvey Girls Forever!''. An extended play (EP) is a Sound recording and reproduction, musical recording that contains more tracks than a Single (music), single but fewer than an album. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. ''Very Proud of Ya'' is the second studio album by American rock band AFI. It was released on June 18, 1996, through Nitro Records. Background The liner notes of the album state that all the tracks are copyrighted to Anthems for Insubordinates, while the mailing address states the band's name as Asking for It. It is the last album to feature bassist Geoff Kresge, who illustrated the album cover as well. The album features future band member Jade Puget performing back-up vocals. It was recorded in about a week. In a 2010 interview, Kresge mentioned that several additional songs and guitar solos were omitted due to time constraints, as a result the band re-recorded several songs that had been previously released. Overview This is the first album to feature bassist Hunter Burgan, although he was not a permanent member of AFI at the time, as well as the final album to feature founding guitarist Mark Stopholese. Burgan was offered about $500 to play on the album, but he requested $ 666. Geoff Kresge
Geoff Kresge is a songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and record producer. Career file:AFI Berkley.JPG, Kresge [far right] in 1995. Kresge played with the punk rock, punk group AFI (band), AFI during their early career, from 1992 through 1997, and co-wrote the majority of their early material alongside frontman Davey Havok. During an AFI hiatus in 1993, he briefly moved to New York to join street punk band Blanks 77. Tiger Army is an American psychobilly band based in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1996 in Berkeley, California, and its only constant member is singer, guitarist, and lead songwriter Nick 13. The band has released six studio albums and four EPs. History Tiger Army played their first show at the famous 924 Gilman Street venue in Berkeley, California, on March 29, 1996. The band's sound drew from early punk, rock n' roll and rockabilly, as well as dark English pop. Son Of Sam (band)
Son of Sam is an American horror punk band that is a side project created by Todd Youth in 2000, during his tenure as the guitarist for Danzig. The band's initial line up featured members of Samhain, Danzig, and AFI. Much like its members' other work, Son of Sam plays in the horror punk style, and also infuses metal and deathrock elements into their music. The name of the band was inspired by the iconic serial killer David Berkowitz, known as the notorious "Son of Sam". This also draws reference to the band Samhain.
