92nd Infantry Regiment (PA)
92nd Infantry Regiment is a reserve unit of Philippine Commonwealth Army activated and organized in September 1941. It was part of 91st Division under Brigadier General Luther Stevens. They fought in Battle of Bataan and surrendered in April 1942 when Luzon Force commander Major General Edward P. King Jr., surrendered all his troops. Organization The regiment was organized from reserve soldiers from Samar and Leyte islands. It was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel John H. Rodman and was ordered to transfer to main island of Luzon to augment the defense in October of that year. The regiment along with other units of 91st Division was moved to Camp Tinio in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija for further training upon arrival. 91st Division (Philippines)
The 91st Infantry Division was a division of the Philippine Army under the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE). Organization History It was active from 1941 to April 9, 1942, whereupon it surrendered when Bataan fell. Col. (later BGen.) Luther R. Stevens (PA) was the division's commander, and Col. Edgar H. Keltner, Inf., was Chief of Staff. The unit was activated in Leyte and was transferred in November 1941 to Luzon taking only 91st, 92nd Infantry Regiments, and 91st Field Artillery Regiment. 93rd Regiment was left behind as it was still being mobilized. Eventually 93rd was transferred to Mindanao by General Sharp commander of Visayan-Mindanao Force leaving only newly recruits and PC units defending in Leyte-Samar area. The Battle of Bataan (; 7 January – 9 April 1942) was fought by the United States and the Philippine Commonwealth against Imperial Japan during World War II. The battle represented the most intense phase of the Japanese invasion of the Philippines during World War II. In January 1942, forces of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy invaded Luzon along with several islands in the Philippine Archipelago after the bombing of the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. The commander in chief of the U.S. and Filipino forces in the islands, General Douglas MacArthur, consolidated all of his Luzon-based units on the Bataan Peninsula to fight against the Japanese army. 91st Infantry Regiment is a reserve unit of the Philippine Commonwealth Army during World War II. It was a part of 91st Infantry Division, based in Leyte but was transferred to Luzon to augment the defense there. It was held as a reserve force of USAFFE but participated in the Battle of Bataan. Organization 91st Infantry was activated in June 1941 on the island of Leyte in the Visayas Islands. Colonel Stuart MacDonald was its first commander, but upon arrival in Luzon he was selected as Chief of Staff of the newly established South Luzon Force (SLF) under Major General George S. 93rd Infantry Regiment is a unit of 91st Infantry Division of Philippine Army activated in 1941. It was not organized until late of 1941. So it was left in Leyte island while the rest of the division was transferred to Luzon island to bolster its defense. It fought in Mindanao island where it was ordered to surrender and became POWs. Organization The regiment was the last to be organized of the 91st Division and it was left in Leyte as it was still being organized and undergoing training. Captain John Goldtrap of 31st Infantry Regiment of US Army along with other young officers and enlisted men was sent to train the men and advise the officers.
