7th Wing (Israel)
The 7th Wing is the special air forces wing of the Israeli Air Force. It is composed of three combat units Unit 669, Shaldag Unit, and Unit 5700. The wing's headquarters is based at the Palmachim Airbase. Roles The wing was established out of an operational need to deal with the Air Force's core challenge of having a special operative force for designated operations. Be'eri Massacre
On 7 October 2023, in the opening attacks of the 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Hamas militants carried out a massacre at Be'eri, an Israeli kibbutz near the Gaza Strip. Around 70 Hamas militants of the al-Qassam Brigades, Nuseirat Battalion, along with DFLP militants had attacked the kibbutz and at least 130 people were killed in the attack, including women (such as peace activist Vivian Silver), children, toddlers, and one infant, claiming the lives of 10% of the farming community's residents. Dozens of homes were also burned down. The 401st "Iron Tracks" Brigade ( he, עקבות הברזל, ''Ikvot HaBarzel'') is an Armored Brigade in the 162nd Division (IDF), 162nd Division of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). The Oketz Unit ( he, יחידת עוקץ, ''lit.'' sting), is the independent canine special forces ( sayeret) unit of the Israel Defense Forces. History It was founded in 1939 as part of Haganah, and later dismantled in 1954. In 1974, a new unit was established by Yossi Labock, who was its first commander. The unit specializes in training and handling dogs for military applications.
