42nd SIGNIS Awards
The 42nd SIGNIS Sri Lanka Salutation Awards Ceremony 2018 festival (Sinhala: 42 වැනි සිග්නීස් සම්මාන උලෙළ), presented by the SIGNIS and organized by Sri Lanka Catholic Cinema Parshadaya, was held to honor the cinema and television in Sri Lanka on August 2, 2019, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Secretary General of International Signis, Ricardo Younes; and Bertha Detta Padiandrajani (Rome) Maria C. Lorenzo, Secretary General of Asia Signis were the chief guests at the awards night. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Saumya Liyanage. In the ceremony, 26 films and 19 teledramas were nominated for the awards and the Signis Lifetime International Award was presented for actress Sriyani Amarasena. Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall
The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), ( si, බණ්ඩාරනායක ජාත්යාන්තර සම්මන්ත්රණ ශාලාව ta, பண்டாரநாயக்க சர்வதேச மாநாட்டு மண்டபம்) is a convention center located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Built between 1970 and 1973, the convention centre was a gift from the People's Republic of China in memory of Solomon Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike, Prime Minister (1956–1959). The construction of the hall was carried out by a joint Sri Lankan and Chinese workforce with a considerable portion of the building materials being imported from China. In 1998 a small Exhibition Centre, the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, was built on the grounds as a gift from China. The BMICH premises is managed by the S. W. R. D. Thumindu Dodantenna (තුමිඳු දොඩම්තැන්න) is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. He is also a lecturer, screenwriter by profession. Bimba Devi alias Yashodhara () is a 2018 Sri Lankan Sinhala language epic, biographical drama film written and directed by professor Sunil Ariyaratne. This historical biographical film depicts the life of princess Yashodhara, the wife of Prince Siddhartha. It is the 1304th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhalese cinema. The film stars Indian actress Pallavi Subhash (who is making her Sinhala language debut in the film) and Indian actor Arpit Choudhary in the lead roles.
