3rd Filmfare Awards East
3rd Filmfare Awards East ceremony, presented by the Filmfare, Filmfare Magazine, honored the best Bengali language, Bengali language Indian films of 2017. The ceremony was held on 17 February 2018 and was co-hosted by Parambrata Chatterjee and Abir Chatterjee. Films that were notably recognized were ''Bishorjan'', which won six awards including Best Film and Best Director; ''Projapoti Biskut'', which won six awards; and ''Mayurakshi'', which won four awards, including Best Film (Critics' Choice). Filmfare Awards Bangla
Filmfare Awards Bangla is the Bengali segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by the ''Filmfare'' magazine of The Times Group to honour the artistic and cinematic excellence in Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali cinema. When it was introduced in 1954, the Filmfare Awards initially recognized achievements only in the Hindi cinema. In 1964 the awards were extended to Telugu language, Telugu, Tamil cinema, Tamil, Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali and Marathi cinema, Marathi languages. But the Bengali segment was discontinued after 1985 for unknown reasons. After being discontinued for almost 3 decades, the award ceremony was restarted in 2014 and renamed as the Filmfare Awards East. Jisshu Sengupta (born Biswaroop Sengupta; 15 March 1977) is an Indian actor, producer, television presenter, who predominantly works in Bengali, Hindi and Telugu films alongside a few Kannada films.
