The 3rd Engineer Regiment ( it, 3° Reggimento Genio Guastatori) is a military engineer regiment of the Italian Army based in Udine in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Today the regiment is the engineer unit of the Cavalry Brigade "Pozzuolo del Friuli". History On 1 October 1922 the 2nd Army Corps Engineer Grouping was formed in Lodi, Lombardy, Lodi, which received the Sappers Battalion and the Telegraphers Battalion of the III Army Corps (Italy), III Army Corps, and a miners company from the disbanded Miners Engineer Regiment (Italy), Miners Engineer Regiment. III Army Corps (Italy)
The III Army Corps was one of three corps the Italian Army fielded during the Cold War. Based in the regions of Lombardy and Piedmont the corps was the army's operational reserve, while the 4th Alpine Army Corps and the 5th Army Corps, both based in the North East of Italy, were the army's front-line units. After the end of the Cold War the corps was reduced in size and on 1 December 2000 it ceded its last brigades to the 1st Defence Forces Command (COMFOD 1°). The Second Italo-Ethiopian War, also referred to as the Second Italo-Abyssinian War, was a war of aggression which was fought between Fascist Italy (1922–1943), Italy and Ethiopian Empire, Ethiopia from October 1935 to February 1937. Wireless Telegraphy
Wireless telegraphy or radiotelegraphy is transmission of text messages by radio waves, analogous to electrical telegraphy using cables. Before about 1910, the term ''wireless telegraphy'' was also used for other experimental technologies for transmitting telegraph signals without wires. In radiotelegraphy, information is transmitted by pulses of radio waves of two different lengths called "dots" and "dashes", which spell out text messages, usually in Morse code. 2nd Alpine Signal Regiment
The 2nd Alpine Signal Regiment ( it, 2° Reggimento Trasmissioni Alpino) is a deployable signals regiment of the Italian Army based in Bolzano in South Tyrol that specializes in mountain warfare. Since 1951 it has been assigned of the 4th Alpine Army Corps and therefore a strong association with the army's mountain infantry corps, the Alpini, with whom the regiment shares the distinctive Cappello Alpino. The unit was first active from 1926 to 1932 as 2nd Radio-Telegraphers Regiment. The unit was reformed in 1951 as a battalion and given the number IV, which had been used by two battalions active during World War II. Novi Ligure (; lij, Nêuve ; pms, Neuvi ) is a city and ''comune'' north of Genoa, in the Piedmont region of the province of Alessandria of northwest Italy. 1st Miners Regiment
The 1st Engineer Regiment ( it, 1° Reggimento Genio) is an inactive military engineer unit of the Italian Army, which was last based in Trento in Trentino. Founded in 1848 it is the oldest engineer regiment of the Italian Army. The regiment was formed in 1848 as Sappers Regiment of the Royal Sardinian Army and tasked with training sapper units. The regiment's companies participated in the First Italian War of Independence, Crimean War, Second Italian War of Independence, Third Italian War of Independence, and capture of Rome. Regimental Depot
The regimental depot of a regiment is its home base for recruiting and training. It is also where soldiers and officers awaiting discharge or postings are based and where injured soldiers return to full fitness after discharge from hospital before returning to full duty.
