310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) (ESC) is an Army Reserve unit subordinate to 377th Theater Sustainment Command headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. The command provides command and control for sustainment units through Alabama, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia. 310th ESC provides trained and ready sustainment forces in support of global contingency operations. The Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), commonly referred to as an "ESC", is a United States Army logistics headquarters. Sustainment is "the provision of logistics, Finance Corps, financial management, United States Army Adjutant General's Corps, personnel services, and health service support necessary to maintain operations until successful mission completion." The Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), commanded by a Brigadier General, is task-organized with one or more Sustainment Brigades in the United States Army, Sustainment Brigades, Transportation Brigades, and/or Movement Control Battalion's for theater opening, theater distribution, or theater closing operations. 377th Theater Sustainment Command
The 12th Port of Embarkation, later designated 377th Theater Sustainment Command, was constituted on 2 July 1942 and was activated 5 July 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The unit was converted, reorganized, and redesignated 7 November 1942 as the 12th Port. The unit was inactivated 4 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey and later redesignated 3 November 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the 377th Transportation Major Port. On 11 September 1950 the 377th was called to Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Later, the unit moved to Fort Eustis, Virginia and stayed on active Federal Service until 10 October 1952. From 1953 until 1963, the 377th remained in a Reserve status and experienced several changes in unit designation. On 31 December 1965, the unit was re-designated as the 377th Support Brigade under the Army Logistical Concept. On 16 October 1979, it was renamed the 377th Corps Support Command. The United States Army Reserve (USAR) is a Military reserve force, reserve force of the United States Army. Together, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard constitute the Army element of the reserve components of the United States Armed Forces. History Origins On 23 April 1908 Congress created the Medical Reserve Corps, the official predecessor of the Army Reserve. 55th Sustainment Brigade (United States)
The 55th Sustainment Brigade is a Sustainment Brigade, sustainment brigade of the United States Army Reserve. It is located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Activated in March 2006, the unit has served at least one tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. The 55th Sustainment Brigade was established in September 2006 from the 55th Theater Material Management Center. The mission of the brigade is to provide command and control for all subordinate units, and provide sustainment in an area of operations as defined by the ESC/TSC. The sustainment brigade plans and executes sustainment, distribution, theater opening and reception, staging, and onward movement of Army forces in full spectrum operations as directed by the ESC/TSC.
