2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards
The 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards were held on February 24, 2018, honoring excellence in anime from 2017. The nominees were announced on January 18. Voting began on January 22, and was held in three separate rounds from January 22 to February 11. The winners were announced on February 24. It featured 17 categories. This edition made several changes from the previous one, including having six nominations for all categories instead of four. The awards for Best Couple, Best Fight Scene, and Most Heartwarming Scene were dropped. New categories were presented, including Best Score, Best Film, Best CGI, Best Continuing Series, and Best Slice of Life. It also marks the first (and currently, the only) time that an award was presented for a manga. 'Hero of the Year' and 'Villain of the Year' awards were renamed as "Best Hero" and "Best Villain" awards respectively. Yuki Yuna Is A Hero
is a Japanese magical girl anime television series created by Takahiro, produced by Studio Gokumi and directed by Seiji Kishi as part of a media project called Takahiro IV Project. is a Japanese anime franchise created by Yoh Yoshinari and produced by Trigger. Orange (animation Studio)
is a Japanese animation studio based in Musashino, Tokyo that specializes in the production of 3DCG animation. The studio is known for its exaggerated 3D and directing style, which differs from the traditional movement often found in CG works. Land Of The Lustrous (TV Series)
is a 2017 anime television series based on Haruko Ichikawa's manga series of the same name. It is produced by the computer graphics (CG) animation studio Orange and directed and written by Takahiko Kyōgoku and Toshiya Ono, respectively. It follows the Lustrous – immortal humanoid life forms who are the embodiments of gemstones – who defend themselves against the Lunarians, who seek to harvest their bodies for decorations. Phosphophyllite is the youngest of the Lustrous, and is given the task to assemble a natural history since they are too brittle to fight. Orange created the series with 3D animation as a base, a decision made partially due to the difficulty in depicting translucent gemstones using hand-drawn animation. Yoichi Nishikawa's concept art greatly influenced Kyōgoku's vision for the series, with several shots directly based on Nishikawa's art.
