29th Corps (People's Republic Of China)
The 29th Corps () was a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in 1949–50 and 1969–85. 1st Formation The 29th Corps was activated in February 1949 from 11th Column, Huadong Field Army. The Corps was composed of the 2nd Garrison Division of Nanjing Military Region, 85th Division, 86th Division (1st Formation)(People's Republic of China), 86th Division and 12th Coastal Defense Division (People's Republic of China), 87th Division. The Corps took part in the Chinese Civil War, including the Battle of Kinmen. XXIX Army Corps (Wehrmacht)
The XXIX Army Corps () was an infantry corps of the German Army during World War II, active from 1940 to 1945. Operational history The corps was formed on 20 May 1940 in ''Wehrkreis'' IV with a home station at Naumburg, which was changed to Bautzen on 8 June. It was initially part of the ''Oberkommando des Heeres'' Reserve, becoming part of 9th Army of Army Group A in northern France by July. It transferred to the 17th Army of Army Group B in the General Government during March and April 1941 in preparation for Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The corps transferred to the 6th Army with Army Group B in May, fighting with the army as part of Army Group South when the invasion began on 22 June. The 29th Rifle Corps () was formed several times in the Soviet Red Army, each formation primarily seeing combat on the Eastern Front during World War II. The first formation of the 29th Rifle Corps was known as the 29th Lithuanian Territorial Rifle Corps, composed of troops of the former Lithuanian army, active from the Soviet Union's annexation of Lithuania in August 1940 until September 1941. A second formation existed from March to April 1943, and a third formation was formed in June 1943. 29th Tank Corps
The 29th Tank Corps was a tank corps of the Soviet Union's Red Army. Formed in February 1943, the corps served through the entire war, fighting in the Battle of Prokhorovka, the Belgorod-Kharkov Offensive, the Battle of the Dnieper, the Dnieper–Carpathian Offensive, Operation Bagration, and the East Prussian Offensive. After the war ended, it was converted into a tank division. Formation The corps began forming on 22 February 1943 at the Moscow Armored Training Center near Naro-Fominsk, and soon became part of the new 5th Guards Tank Army. The 29th included the 25th, 31st, and 32nd Tank Brigades, the 53rd Motor Rifle Brigade, the 271st Mortar Regiment, and other smaller units, and was commanded by Major General Fyodor Anikushkin.
