25th Multi-member Constituency
The 25th Multi-member Constituency ( bg, 25-ти многомандатен избирателен район) is one of the five Bulgarian constituencies whose borders are different from the administrative division. It comprises several regions in Western and North-Western Sofia. Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. The city is built west of the Iskar river, and has many mineral springs, such as the Sofia Central Mineral Baths. It has a humid continental climate. Bulgaria is divided into 31 multi-member constituencies for the purposes of elections to the National Assembly. Background Bulgaria is divided into 28 provinces. Most of these correspond exactly to the constituencies, but Sofia City Province is divided in 3 and Plovdiv Province is divided in 2. Plovdiv Province is divided between the 16th MMC (consisting of the City of Plovdiv) and the 17th MMC (consisting of the rest of the province). Sofia City Province (not to be confused with Sofia Province) is divided between the 23rd (southern Sofia), 24th (central and eastern Sofia), and 25th (western Sofia) MMCs. Ekaterina Ivanova Mihaylova ( bg, Екатерина Иванова Михайлова, born 24 October 1956) is a Bulgarian politician, who was the leader of the UDF between 2001 and 2002. Life Mihaylova was born in Pazardzhik, in the family of a lawyer and a physician. She graduated from Sofia University in 1978 with a degree in legal studies and started working as an attorney in 1980. Her political career began in the 1990s when she gained prominence as a member of the UDF. Alongside Yordan Sokolov, she is considered to be among the staunchest supporters of Ivan Kostov and his policies. In June 2001, Mihaylova succeeded Kostov as the leader of the UDF, but in March 2002 lost her position to Nadezhda Mihaylova at the 13th national conference of the party. Ognyan Stefanov Gerdzhikov ( bg, Огнян Стефанов Герджиков) (born 19 March 1946) is a Bulgarian politician and jurist who served as the interim Prime Minister from 27 January 2017 to 4 May 2017, following the resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and the failure of Bulgarian parties to form a government.
