2025 World Surf League
The 2025 World Surf League is the 48th season of all iterations of the tour circuit for professional surfers. Billabong Pipe Masters will be the first round of the tour. For the first time, the season will end Cloudbreak, in Tavarua, Fiji, will host the WSL Finals to determine the 2025 World Champions. It is the first time the WSL Finals has moved locations since its debut in 2021. John John Florence and Caitlin Simmers are the defending champions from the 2024 season. Florence announced on 21 January 2025 his withdrawal from the 2025 season, allowing rookie Alan Cleland Jr. to take his spot on the CT. Eight time World Title holder Stephanie Gilmore also confirmed she will not compete in the 2025 WSL CT. The 2025 CT will include eleven regular-season events in nine countries. The Mid-season cut will come into action following stop number seven in Margaret River, Australia. Surfers who make the cut will compete in United States, Brazil and South Africa. Caitlin Simmers
Caitlin Simmers (born October 26, 2005) is an American surfer from Oceanside, California, who has competed professionally since 2018. She qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games. Career Simmers qualified for the 2022 CT by finishing fourth in the 2021 Challenger Series. Her first victory on the professional circuit was when she won the US Open of Surfing, the first event of the CS in 2021. In 2022 Simmers, who was 16-years old, decided to withdraw from the 2022 WSL Championship Tour to focus on developing her surfing and staying close to her family. She returned to compete in the 2022 Challenger Series where she once again qualified for the 2023 WSL Championship Tour. Johanne Defay
Johanne Defay (born 19 November 1993) is a French professional surfer. She was born in Le Puy-en-Velay in the Auvergne region of France. She qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games where she won bronze. She began surfing at the age of 8 off the beaches of Reunion Island, which is her home today. After Johanne's first competition when she was only ten years old, she quickly moved through the European amateur ranks to eventually take on the WSL World Qualifying Series. In 2008 Defay almost gave up competing. She was finding it difficult to transition from the juniors to the WQS and then the economy crashed causing many surf companies cancel their sponsorships. Yago Dora
Yago Dora (born May 18, 1996), is a Brazilian professional surfer who is in the World Surf League. Early life Yago Dora was born in Curitiba, but developed his passion for surfing when his family moved to Florianópolis, encouraged by his father, Leandro Dora, a great coach of the world's surfing elite. Dora started later than others in the world of surfing, but at 11 everything changed and he was soon doing radical maneuvers. Molly Picklum (born 26 November 2002) is an Australian professional surfer. She competes in the elite (top 16) of the World Surf League. Ethan Ewing
Ethan Ewing (born 2 September 1998, in North Stradbroke Island, Queensland) is an Australian professional surfer. Ewing had his best WSL performance in 2023, when he finished 3rd on the CT after the regular season. In the Rip Curl WSL finals, Ewing defeated Griffin Colapinto before falling to champion Filipe Toledo to finish 2nd in the world. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games. Jack Robinson (born 27 December 1997) is an Australian professional surfer who competes on the World Surf League Men's Championship Tour. Tatiana "Tati" Guimarães Weston-Webb (born May 9, 1996) is a Brazilian surfer based in Kauai, Hawaii. She is also both American and English. She was the only rookie on the professional surfing World Championship Tour in 2015. Weston-Webb wears jersey number 9, and her 2016 'CT rank is number 4. Griffin Colapinto ( ; born July 29, 1998) is an American professional surfer who has competed on the World Surf League Men's World Tour since 2018. Colapinto has finished twice in the top three of the World Surf League Championship, in 2023 and 2024. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games where he was eliminated in the third round of the men's shortboard competition. Caroline Marks (born February 14, 2002) is an American professional surfer. She is the 2023 World Surf League Women's World Tour Champion and an Olympic gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
