2025 Toppserien
The 2025 Toppserien is the 42nd season of the highest women's football league in Norway. The season started 21 March 2025 and is set to end 15 November 2025, not including play-off matches. Teams Hønefoss and Bodø/Glimt were promoted from the 2024 First Division. They replaced Arna-Bjørnar and Åsane, who were relegated from the 2024 Toppserien. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984 1. divisjon (women), 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Østlandet, Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Vestlandet, Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Trøndelag, Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Nord-Norge, Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Bergen
Bergen (, ) is a city and municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestland county on the Western Norway, west coast of Norway. SK Brann Kvinner
SK Brann (previously known as IL Sandviken) is a Norwegian women's football team based in Bergen. The team plays in Norway's top league, Toppserien. History The team used to be part of IL Sandviken. Sandviken's women's team were a mainstay in Toppserien since its formation, and won it for the first time in 2021. They also won the Norwegian Women's Cup in 1995. The team was renamed SK Brann Kvinner ahead of the 2022 season as part of a merger process with Bergen's most popular football club, SK Brann. In January 2023 they were fully merged with Brann, becoming the club's women's team. In their first season as Brann, the team were crowned champions of both the 2022 Toppserien and the 2022 Norwegian Women's Cup. Artificial Turf
Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass, used in sports arenas, residential lawns and commercial applications that traditionally use grass. It is much more durable than grass and easily maintained without irrigation or trimming, although periodic cleaning is required. Aspmyra Stadion
Aspmyra Stadion is a football stadium in the town of Bodø (town), Bodø in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Home of FK Bodø/Glimt, Bodø/Glimt and IK Grand Bodø, Grand Bodø, it holds a seated capacity for 8,270 spectators. The venue has four stands: a modern all-seater with roof, 100 Club seating, club seats and 15 luxury boxes to the south, unroofed all-seater stands to the east and west and two stands to the north. An older raised grandstand with roofing at the back and a new (built 2022) all-seater unroofed stand in front. Before this new stand was built the area in front of the old stand was a standing area that could hold approximately 2000 people, but did not fulfill UEFA safety regulations for international matches. Åsane is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the northern part of the city, north of the city centre. Åsane is connected to downtown Bergen by the E16/ E39 highway. The E16 highway continues on through Åsane to the southeast to the neighboring borough of Arna. The E39 highway continues north through Åsane to the Nordhordland Bridge and then on to the northern municipalities in Vestland county. Arna-Bjørnar
Arna-Bjørnar Fotball is a Norwegian football club from Arna, Bergen. It was founded in late 2000 as a merger between the football branches from ''IL Bjørnar'' and ''Arna T&IL'', and replaced Bjørnar IL in the league system from 2001. The women's team has played since then in the ''Toppserien'' apart from the 2005 season when it was in the 1.divisjon. Prominent members of the women's team (2009) are goalkeepers Reidun Seth and Erika Skarbø, and Nigerian keeper Precious Dede brought in to cover while Skarbø recovers from a long-term wrist injury. 2024 Norwegian First Division (women)
The 2024 Norwegian First Division was the 40th season of the Norwegian First Division, the second-tier Norwegian women's football division, and the 23rd season under the current format. The league consists of 10 teams. Regular season The regular season consists of 10 teams, who play each other twice, totalling 18 matches per team. After 18 matches, the league is split into two groups consisting of the top four teams and the bottom six teams. The teams carry over their points and goal difference from the regular season.
