Arna-Bjørnar
Arna-Bjørnar Fotball is a Norwegian football club from Arna, Bergen. It was founded in late 2000 as a merger between the football branches from ''IL Bjørnar'' and ''Arna T&IL'', and replaced Bjørnar IL in the league system from 2001. The women's team has played since then in the ''Toppserien'' apart from the 2005 season when it was in the 1.divisjon. Prominent members of the women's team (2009) are goalkeepers Reidun Seth and Erika Skarbø, and Nigerian keeper Precious Dede brought in to cover while Skarbø recovers from a long-term wrist injury. Arna-Bjørnar has earned a reputation for developing young players and the squad includes the former and current Norway Under-19 captains, Maren Mjelde and Kristine Hegland, and prominent former Under-19 players Caroline Walde and Ingrid Ryland, both now Under-23 players, as well as senior international Madeleine Giske who played in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007. 2024 Toppserien
The 2024 Toppserien was the 41st season of the highest women's football league in Norway. The season started on 16 March 2024 and ended on 16 November 2024, not including play-off matches. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984 1. divisjon (women), 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Østlandet, Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Vestlandet, Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Trøndelag, Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). Madeleine Giske
Madeleine Giske (born 14 September 1987) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a midfielder. She is a member of the Norway women's national football team. Giske is the daughter of Anders Giske, a former professional footballer who captained the Norway national football team, as well as playing for clubs such as SK Brann, 1. FC Nürnberg, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln. Career In 2003 as a 15-year-old Madeleine Giske joined the Bergen club IL Sandviken where she debuted in Division-1 on 26 April. She was an immediate success and continued with the same club when it was promoted into the Toppserien in 2004, scoring eleven goals in that season and also in the next. 2010 Toppserien
The 2010 Toppserien was the 27th season of top-tier women's football in Norway. A total of twelve teams contested the league, consisting of ten who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the 1. divisjon. The season ran from 5 April to 11 November 2010, and was won by Stabæk, their first ever title. As champions, they also qualified for the Round of 32 of the 2011-12 UEFA Women's Champions League. Stabæk completed the entire season undefeated, and were confirmed as league champions on the penultimate day after beating Trondheims-Ørn 3–0, at the same time as runners-up Røa lost 0–4 to Kolbotn. The roles were thus reversed from the previous season, when Røa won the league ahead of Stabæk. Kolbotn once again finished third after winning 2–0 against Arna-Bjørnar in the final round. Erika Skarbø
Erika Espeseth Skarbø (born 12 June 1987 in Ålesund) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. She has played for IL Hødd and Fortuna Ålesund. Skarbø is also a member of the Norway women's national football team, having made her senior team debut on 12 February 2007 in a match against France. Skarbø has made 8 senior appearances for Norway, and has 45 youth team caps. She was the reserve keeper for the Norwegian squad that placed fourth in the 2007 Women's World Cup held in China. The 2011 Toppserien was the 28th season of top-tier women's football in Norway. A total of twelve teams contested the league, consisting of ten who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the 1. divisjon. Precious Dede
Precious Uzoaru Dede (born 18 January 1980) is a Nigerian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper for the women's national football team. She formerly played for several clubs, including Delta Queens FC, Ibom Queens and Arna-Bjørnar, as well as appearing 99 times for the Nigeria women's national football team. Reidun Seth
Reidun Seth (born 9 June 1966) is a Norwegian footballer, world champion and olympic medallist, a football goalkeeper and a goalkeeper trainer. She debuted for the Norwegian national team in 1984, and played 71 matches for the national team. She received a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Clubs include IL Jardar, GAIS, Trollhättans IF and Nymark IL. Reidun Seth joined Bergen club Arna-Bjørnar in 1999 and retired after the 2002 season. Since then she has worked as a full-time keeper trainer in Bergen and has among her students Norway's keeper, Erika Skarbø. Erik Nævdal Mjelde (born 6 March 1984) is a Norwegian football manager for the Arna-Bjørnar women's team and former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Among his previous clubs are Sandefjord, Lillestrøm, SK Brann and Løv-Ham Fotball. Prior to joining Brann at the age of 16, he played for Fri. The 2006 season of the ''Toppserien'', the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 6 May 2006 and ended on 28 October 2006. 18 games were played with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws.
