2025 Mainland Football Leagues
The 2025 Mainland Football Leagues will be the 26th season of football in the Mainland Football federation. There are four main men's leagues and four main women's leagues. The main men's leagues are Southern League, Canterbury Premiership League, Nelson Bays Premiership League, and Canterbury Championship League, respectively tier 2, 3, 3 and 4 among New Zealand men's league system. The main women's leagues are South Island League, Canterbury Women's Premiership League, Nelson Bays Women's Premiership League, and Canterbury Women's Championship League, respectively tier 2, 3, 3 and 4 among New Zealand women's league system. Along with the main football leagues, there are two main regional knockout cups and charity cups. The main knockout cups are English Cup for all men's teams and Reta Fitzpatrick Cup for all women's teams, with generally only first teams participate. Mainland Football
Mainland Football is one of six federations of New Zealand Football, representing regions of Northern and Central Canterbury, Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast. History Canterbury United Pride was founded in 2002, to represent the region for the New Zealand Women's National League from its inaugural season in 2002 onwards. Canterbury United Dragons was founded in 2002 as a conglomerate of various Christchurch area clubs, in order to form a strong team to take part in the 2002 New Zealand National Soccer League. In 2004, the league was replaced by the New Zealand Football Championship, run on a regional franchise basis, and Canterbury United became one of the eight competing teams. In 2021, the league was replaced by New Zealand National League for more of a club based competition, causing the Canterbury Dragons to dissolve. Canterbury Women's Championship League

Cashmere Technical
Cashmere Technical is an association football club based in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was formed in early 2012 from the merger of two of the city's premier teams, Cashmere Wanderers and Woolston Technical. The two clubs had agreed to work together in early 2011, and the 2011 Christchurch earthquake which devastated their home city and resulted in the loss of many playing facilities hastened their merger into a combined side. Cashmere Technical play in the Mainland Premier League, and have won the Chatham Cup twice as Cashmere but also once as Christchurch Technical Old Boys. Selwyn United
Selwyn United Football Club is a football club based in Rolleston in the Selwyn region of New Zealand. Formed in 2013 following the merger of Ellesmere FC and Rolleston FC, they currently compete in the Southern League, one of three qualifying leagues for the New Zealand National League. The club also competes in the Chatham Cup, New Zealand's premier knockout tournaments for men. The best Selwyn United have done in the competition is make it to the third round, which they have done three times in 2016 and 2018 and 2021 before losing to local rivals Cashmere Technical each time. The 2024 Southern Football Leagues is the 25th season of football in the Southern Football federation. There are five main men's leagues and four main women's leagues. Wanaka AFC
Wanaka AFC is an association football club in Wānaka, New Zealand. The club has several men's and women's teams across age-group levels, and has around 550 members. They compete in the Southern League. History The club's senior team competed in the Southern Premier League, from 2019 to 2024, in Level 3 of the New Zealand league system. Their traditional rivals and closest neighbours are Queenstown Rovers. New Zealand National League
The New Zealand Men's National League (NZNL), known as the Dettol Men's National League for sponsorship reasons, is an amateur men's football league at the top of the New Zealand football league system. Founded in 2021, the New Zealand National League is the successor to the New Zealand Football Championship. The league is contested by ten teams, with teams qualifying from their regional leagues. Four teams qualify from the Northern League, three qualify from the Central League, two qualify from the newly formed Southern League and the Wellington Phoenix Reserves are automatically given a spot each year. The regional leagues runs from March through to September, with each league having a varying number of games. The Championship phase runs after the completion of the regional phase with each team playing each other once, followed by a grand final.
