2025 Batangas Local Elections
Local elections were held in the province of Batangas on May 12, 2025, as part of the 2025 general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the Legislative districts of Batangas, six districts of Batangas. Provincial elections Incumbent Hermilando Mandanas who was elected in 2016 and has served his third consecutive (sixth non-consecutive term) as governor and is ineligible for reelection. Among those who announced their intention for the governorship is incumbent Mataasnakahoy Vice Mayor Jay Ilagan. PROMDI
The Progressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiatives or Probinsya Muna Development Initiative (; ), abbreviated as PROMDI or Abag-Promdi, is a political party in the Philippines based in Cebu. The party was founded in 1997 by Lito Osmeña, a former governor of Cebu, for his 1998 presidential campaign. Their main ideology is devolution. Cuenca, Batangas
Cuenca, officially the Municipality of Cuenca (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 36,235 people. History Once a part of San Jose, it became an independent town under the name "Cuenca" on either November 7, 1876 or April 7, 1877, after the Spanish hometown of the then-Governor of Batangas that resembles its cold breeze and beautiful scenic spots. Calatagan, officially the Municipality of Calatagan (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 58,719 people. Calatagan comprises the Calatagan Peninsula between the West Philippine Sea and Balayan Bay. The peninsula's near white sand beaches are well-known vacation and leisure sites. Calaca, officially the City of Calaca (), is a component city in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 87,361 people. Calaca is home to the lively Calacatchara festival (a portmanteau of Calaca and '' atchara'' (chutney). Alitagtag, Batangas
Alitagtag, officially the Municipality of Alitagtag (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 26,819 people. Alitagtag derived its name from the Tagalog word ''alinagnag'', which means "a small distinct light." History Much of Alitagtag was once part of Bauan. On August 10, 1908, the resolution by the electorate of barrios Alitagtag, Balagbag, Dalipit, Munlawin, and Muzon was transmitted to the Provincial Committee, who would approve it in three months' time. Agoncillo, officially the Municipality of Agoncillo (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 39,101 people. The town was named in honor of Don Felipe Agoncillo, a native of Taal and one of the first Filipino representatives to the Spanish Cortes. History Agoncillo was originally a part of Lemery.
