Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide #Curling stone, stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area that is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The goal is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. Players induce a curved path, described as ''curl'', by causing the stone to slowly rotate as it slides. Marc Angelo Otida Pfister (born September 26, 1989) is a curler. Born in Switzerland, he currently represents the Philippines. Pfister has competed in three World Championships for his native Switzerland, and a gold medalist representing the Philippines at the 2025 Asian Winter Games. Curling career Mens Switzerland (2009–2023) As a junior curler, Pfister played third for Switzerland (skipped by David Bartschiger) at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships, where they finished sixth. Pfister competed at the 2015 Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, as skip for the Swiss national curling team. The Swiss team had a great start at the tournament, but lost their last five games. These last five consecutive losses placed the young Swiss team at 5–6 after the round robin, finishing 7th. 2024 European Curling Championships
The 2024 Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships qualify European curling teams for the 2025 World Curling Championships. The A and B division competitions were held from November 16 to 23, with the A division being held at the Kisakallio Sport Institute in Lohja, Finland, and the B division being held at the Östersund Curling Club in Östersund, Sweden. The C division competition was held from April 28 to May 4 at the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Dumfries, Scotland. The top eight men's and women's teams qualified for the 2025 World Men's Curling Championship and the 2025 World Women's Curling Championship respectively.
