2024 VFL Season
The 2024 VFL season is the 142nd season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), a second-tier Australian rules football competition played in the states of Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. Background Following the conclusion of the 2023 season, there was speculation that AFL clubs and might withdraw their reserves teams from their local competitions (the SANFL and WAFL respectively) to join the VFL. Although neither team ultimately joined for 2024, Port Adelaide formally applied in December 2023 to join the VFL from 2025. A decision on the Port Adelaide reserves' admission is yet to be made as of February 2024. 2023 VFL Season
The 2023 Victorian Football League season was the 141st season of the Victorian Football Association/Victorian Football League, a second-tier Australian rules football competition played in the states of Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. The season commenced on 25 March and concluded with the Grand Final on 24 September. Gold Coast reserves won its 1st premiership, defeating by 19 points in the 2023 VFL Grand Final. Pre-season Four weeks of pre-season practice matches were held before the beginning of the home-and-away season, beginning on 23 February. Blake Caracella
Blake Caracella (born 15 March 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is currently serving as an assistant coach with the Essendon Football Club. He is the brother of Craig Caracella. AFL career Essendon Selected by Essendon in the 1994 National draft at pick 10, Caracella finally debuted with the Bombers in 1997. What had held him back was his lack of bulk—he came to the club weighing only 74 kg—however, he rectified this by pushing his playing weight up to 83 kg prior to his AFL debut. Moorabbin Oval (also known as RSEA Park under a naming rights agreement) is an Australian rules football ground in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at Linton Street in the suburb of Moorabbin. The ground was most notable as the home of the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League, serving as its home ground for VFL/AFL matches from 1965 until 1992, and as its primary training and administrative base from 1965 until 2010. Justin Plapp (born 22 June 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Justin was born in Penguin, Tasmania and attended Penguin High School. Plapp caught the attention of AFL clubs after kicking 98 goals with the Burnie Dockers in 1996, which was the most by a player in the TFL Statewide League that year.
