Jacob Dawson
Jacob Dawson (born 3 November 1999) is an Australian rules footballer and the current co-captain of the Southport Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL), serving alongside Brayden Crossley. He previously played for the Gold Coast Suns in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Dawson was raised on the Gold Coast and grew up playing his junior football for the Burleigh Bombers. His father, Paul, played professional basketball in the National Basketball League. Jacob attended Palm Beach Currumbin High School throughout his youth and was placed in the Gold Coast Suns Academy at 13 years of age. He switched to the Palm Beach Currumbin Football Club at 17 years old and was chosen to represent the Gold Coast in the Academy Series and the Allies in the 2017 AFL Under 18 Championships. Hawthorn Football Club
The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL. 2018 AFL Season
The 2018 AFL season was the 122nd season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior men's Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 22 March until 29 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the West Coast Eagles for the fourth time, after it defeated by five points in the AFL Grand Final. Pre-season AFLX On 17 November 2017, the AFL confirmed that the pre-season would feature an AFLX competition. The game is played on a soccer-sized pitch over two ten minute halves. 2017 AFL Under 18 Championships
The 2017 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships was the 22nd edition of the AFL Under 18 Championships. For the previous two decades, the Under-18 Championships had been split into two divisions – with traditional football regions Vic Metro, Vic Country, Western Australia and South Australia in the top tier division one and Queensland, NSW-ACT, Tasmania and the Northern Territory in division two. However, with the growth in the strength of the northern academies, the division two carnival was changed to a five-round competition between the four academy clubs (Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns, Greater Western Sydney Giants, Sydney Swans), Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
