The 2024 season is Tromsø IL's 104th season in existence and the club's fourth consecutive season in the top flight of Norwegian football. Tromsø Idrettslag is a Norwegian professional football club founded in 1920, based in the city of Tromsø. They play their home games at Alfheim Stadion. Tromsø play in the Eliteserien. Tromsø have won the Norwegian Cup twice, in 1986 and 1996, and have competed in several UEFA competitions; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Intertoto Cup and UEFA Europa League. The Norwegian Cup trophies make Tromsø the northernmost club in the world to have won a nationwide title. History 1920–39: The pre-war years The club was founded on 15 September 1920, and given the name Tromsø Turnforenings Fotballag (Tromsø Gymnastics Association's Football Team), or Turn for short. Lasse Nilsen (born 21 February 1995) is a Norwegian football defender who currently plays for the Norwegian First Division side Tromsø IL. He hails from Bleik and started his youth career in Høken, moving on to Andenes around his early teens. Runar Robinsønn Norheim (born 14 February 2005) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Tromsø. Tobias Kvalvågnes Guddal (born 25 July 2002) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Tromsø. Career Bryne Guddal joined Bryne in April 2021, playing a total of sixteen games in the first season for the club. Yaw Paintsil (born 19 August 1999) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Tromsø IL. Career Hailing from Oslo, Paintsil began playing in the club Årvoll IL at the age of 5. Paintsil was also accepted into law school, having taken the law course in upper secondary school and watched the TV series '' Suits''. He did not play football professionally, but moved on from Årvoll to the third-tier club Kjelsås.
