2024 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard
The 2024 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard was held from September 6 to 9 at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario. The event was held in a triple knockout format with a purse of $30,000 on both the men's and women's sides. It was the first Stu Sells sponsored event held as part of the 2024–25 season. In the men's event, Yannick Schwaller's Swiss rink from Geneva stole one in an extra end to beat Germany's Marc Muskatewitz 6–5. Schwaller, with fourth Benoît Schwarz-van Berkel, second Sven Michel and lead Pablo Lachat finished the event with a 7–2 record, qualifying for the playoff through the last chance C Event. Once qualified, the Swiss team knocked off the top two remaining seeds Bruce Mouat and Brad Gushue in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively to reach the final. Andi Schwaller
Andreas "Andi" Schwaller (born 8 July 1970 in Recherswil) is a Swiss curler. Schwaller started playing curling in 1982. He plays in fourth position as a skip and is right-handed. In 2001 he won a silver medal at the World Curling Championships, in his home country. He scored an upset victory over Randy Ferbey in the semifinals, before falling to Peja Lindholm in the final. At the 2002 Winter Olympics he looked set to make the gold medal game, leading eventual gold medalist Pål Trulsen 6-3 after 8 ends in the semifinal. Trulsen though made a large comeback, stealing in the 10th end, and then coming up with the winning stolen point in the 11th when Schwaller wrecked on a guard. Ross Whyte
Ross Whyte (born 31 August 1998 in York, England) is a Scottish curler from Stirling. Skipping his own team, Whyte has won silver at the 2018 World Junior Curling Championships and won bronze at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships and 2019 Winter Universiade. As alternate for the Bruce Mouat rink, he won two European championship titles (, ) and earned a silver medal in the men's team event of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Riku Yanagisawa
is a Japanese curler. He is a three-time Japanese men's champion skip. Career Yanagisawa played second on the Karuizawa SC team skipped by Yoshiro Shimizu 2018 Japan Curling Championships. The team finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a 6–2 record, making the playoffs. In the playoffs, they defeated Naomasa Takeda in the 3 vs. 4 game, before losing to Masaki Iwai in the semifinal, settling for third place. Yanagisawa moved to third on the Karuizawa team in 2019, which was now skipped by Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi. Marco Hösli
Marco Hösli (born 15 May 2000) is a Swiss curler from Ennenda. He is a two-time World Junior silver medallist. Career Juniors Hösli skipped Team Switzerland, which also included Philipp Hösli, Marco Hefti and Jannis Spiess at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships. There, he led Switzerland to a 6–3 round robin record. This put them into the playoffs, where they had to play the undefeated Scotland team, skipped by Ross Whyte in the semifinal. Switzerland upset the Scots, putting them into the final against Canada, skipped by Tyler Tardi. Canada beat Switzerland, forcing Hösli and his rink to settle for silver. Bradley Raymond Gushue, ONL ( ; born June 16, 1980) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Gushue, along with teammates Russ Howard, Mark Nichols, Jamie Korab and Mike Adam, represented Canada in curling at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where they won the gold medal by defeating Finland 10–4. Mouat has led his team to two world championship titles in and , four European championship titles (, , and ) and ten Grand Slam titles.
