2024 Southeastern Conference Softball Season
The 2024 SEC softball season began play Thursday, February 8, and conference play began Friday, March 8. The 2024 Southeastern Conference softball tournament took place May 7–11 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. Vanderbilt University is the only full member of the Southeastern Conference to not sponsor a softball program. SEC preseason poll The head coaches SEC preseason poll was released on January 25, 2024. Each head coach voted on a scale of 12 points for first place down to 1 point for last place, 12th. Each coach only voted for 12 teams, since they can not vote for their own team. Tennessee was picked to finish 1st, with six 1st place votes. Georgia was 2nd with six 1st place votes. Karen Weekly
Karen Weekly is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Tennessee. Weekly has previously been the co-head softball coach at Chattanooga from 1997–2001. She served as an assistant at both Chattanooga (1995–1996) and Pacific Lutheran (1987–1994). Weekly served as co-head coach at Tennessee along with her husband, Ralph Weekly, from 2002 through 2021 before her husband’s retirement. Keagan Rothrock (born January 5, 2005) is an American college softball pitcher for Florida. As a freshman in 2024, she was named SEC Freshman of the Year. High school career Rothrock attended Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She missed her freshman season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. During the 2021 season, in her sophomore year, she posted a 24–2 record with a 0.13 earned run average (ERA), allowing 40 hits and six walks in innings while striking out 364 batters, as she led the Royals to the Class 4A state championship. Karlyn Pickens (born January 9, 2004) is an American college softball pitcher for Tennessee. She holds the NCAA softball record for fastest pitch ever thrown at . High school career Pickens attended North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, North Carolina where she was a three-sport athlete, playing softball, basketball and volleyball. Jocelyn Erickson
Jocelyn Erickson (born September 27, 2003) is an American college softball player for the Florida Gators. She previously played for Oklahoma. She was named the NFCA National Player of the Year in 2024. High school career Erickson attended Sandra Day O'Connor High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was a two-sport athlete playing both basketball and softball. During her freshman year in 2019, she led the Eagles with 50 RBIs, while hitting .530 with 16 doubles and eight home runs to help lead her team to the 6A state championship. In January 2021, during the second basketball game of the season, she suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and damaged her inside and outside meniscus while playing for the Eagles. 2024 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
The 2024 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 17 through June 6, 2024, as the final part of the 2024 NCAA Division I softball season. The tournament ended with the 2024 Women's College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma won the 2024 Women's College World Series, becoming the first team in college softball history to four-peat. Dayton, Siena and Southeastern Louisiana made their NCAA Division I softball tournament debuts. All 13 softball playing schools of the Southeastern Conference were selected for the tournament. This marked the fourth time in conference history that all 13 programs qualified for the NCAA tournament.
