2024 New York Giants Season
The 2024 season was the New York Giants' 100th in the National Football League (NFL) and their third under the head coach/general manager tandem of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen—the first time since Tom Coughlin was the coach that a tandem lasted three or more seasons. The Giants failed to improve on their 6–11 record from 2023 following a Week 14 loss to the New Orleans Saints. This is the first season since 2017 without Saquon Barkley on the roster, as he signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason. A commorative 100th anniversary patch was made for the season. Following a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12, the Giants suffered a losing season. They were eliminated from playoff contention for the second consecutive season after a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys, as well as the first team of the year to be eliminated. The Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise's 79th season in the National Football League, and the thirteenth under head coach Andy Reid. The Eagles had high hopes of competing for a Super Bowl with several notable offseason acquisitions – new backup quarterback Vince Young commented that the roster was a "dream team" – but ultimately failed to improve on their 10–6 record from 2010 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007. However, they did win their last four games, in an attempt to pull out a miracle playoff berth, finishing 8–8, only one game behind the divisional winners and eventual Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants. They also swept the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins for the first time since 2006 and 2009, respectively. The Eagles played all their home games at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Offseason Personnel changes On January 15, defensive coordinator Sean McDermott was fired. 2024 Dallas Cowboys Season
The 2024 season was the Dallas Cowboys' 65th in the National Football League (NFL) and their fifth and final season under head coach Mike McCarthy. This was their first season since 2020 without Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator, as the Washington Commanders hired him to be their head coach. He was replaced in that role by former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, who returned to the Cowboys after eighteen years. The Cowboys failed to improve upon their 12–5 record from the past three seasons following a loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 and guaranteed a worse record after suffering their sixth loss to the Philadelphia Eagles the following week. After the Eagles defeated the Carolina Panthers in Week 14, the Cowboys were knocked out of NFC East contention, marking the 20th straight season the division would not have a repeat champion. With the Commanders upsetting the Eagles in Week 16, the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 20 ... Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15, the Steelers made the playoffs for the second consecutive season after losses by the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins that same day. However, the Steelers had a late-season collapse by losing their last four games, resulting in them losing their lead in the AFC North and failing to improve on their 10–7 record from last year despite a 10–3 start. Their late-season woes continued into the playoffs where they were eliminated in the Wild Card round by the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens, resulting in the Steelers' sixth consecutive loss in the postseason. In a Thursday Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kirk Cousins set a franchise record for most passing yards in a game, throwing for 509 yards, beating the record previously set by Matt Ryan in 2016.
