2024 Oregon State Beavers Baseball Team
The 2024 Oregon State Beavers baseball team represented Oregon State University in the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Beavers played their home games at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field as members of the Pac-12 Conference. This was the final year the Beavers baseball team played as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They begin competing as an independent in 2025. The team was led by the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach Mitch Canham in his fifth season at Oregon State. Preseason Following the 2023 season, assistant coach Darwin Barney declined to return for a fourth year on the Beaver's coaching staff, clearing a spot for former 2007 national champion teammate Joey Wong. Mitch Canham
Mitchell Dean Canham (born September 25, 1984) is an American baseball coach and former catcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Oregon State Beavers. He previously served as manager for the Clinton LumberKings, Modesto Nuts, and Arkansas Travelers. Canham played college baseball for the Oregon State Beavers, coached by Pat Casey, and was a member of the 2006 and 2007 teams that won back-to-back national championships at the College World Series. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB) with the 57th overall pick in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. Amateur career Canham played for the Lake Stevens Junior Athletic Association (LSJAA) Tigers from 1995-1996. Dick Howser Trophy
The Dick Howser Trophy is bestowed annually to the national college baseball player of the year. The award is named after former collegiate and Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager Dick Howser, who died as the result of brain cancer on June 17, 1987, at the age of 51. In that same year, the award was established by friends of Howser and presented to Mike Fiore, the inaugural winner. It is considered to be the Heisman Trophy of college baseball. Six winners of the Dick Howser Trophy are members of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. Five winners— Kris Benson, David Price, Stephen Strasburg, Adley Rutschman, and Paul Skenes—went on to become the first overall MLB draft pick. The 2024 Kentucky Wildcats baseball team represented the University of Kentucky in the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wildcats play their home games at Kentucky Proud Park.
