2024 NBL1 Season
The 2024 NBL1 season was the fifth season of the NBL1. The season consisted of five conferences: South, North, Central, West and East. The third annual National Finals were held on the Sunshine Coast, with two South teams winning the NBL1 National championship for the second straight year. The Waverley Falcons won in the women while the Knox Raiders men defended their 2023 National title. Conference seasons The season began on 23 March for the Central Conference, 28 March for the West Conference, 3 April for the South Conference, 6 April for the East Conference and 11 April for the North Conference. All conference finals were concluded by 10 August. South The women's minor premiers were the Knox Raiders with a 20–2 record while the men's minor premiers were the Mount Gambier Pioneers with an 17–5 record. NBL1
NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball league in Australia, consisting of South, North, Central, West and East Conferences with both men's and women's competitions. Each conference is run by their respective state governing body, with the league including 76 clubs from across every state and territory. The league replaced the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Australia's pre-eminent semi-professional basketball league between 1981 and 2018. Following the NBL1's inaugural season in 2019, the 2020 season saw the 2019 teams comprise the new South Conference and the former Queensland Basketball League (QBL) and Premier League (South Australia) become the new North and Central Conferences. Mount Gambier Pioneers
Mount Gambier Pioneers is a member club of NBL1 South based in Mount Gambier, South Australia. The club fields both a men's and women's team. The club is a division of Basketball Mount Gambier, the major administrative basketball organisation in the state's south-east region. The Pioneers play their home games at Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre. Club history Early years The Pioneers made their debut in the SEABL in 1988, but only made the playoffs in one out of their first nine seasons. Under coach John Burns, the Pioneers finished the 1997 season as conference runners-up before missing the playoffs again in 1998. They finished as conference runners-up again in 2000. Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. Brisbane Capitals is a NBL1 North club based in Brisbane, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. Samuel McDaniel (born 9 December 1995) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Southeastern Community College and Louisiana–Monroe. Early life Born in Hobart, Tasmania, McDaniel was raised by his mother in Adelaide, South Australia, and attended Southern Vales Christian College in the suburb of Morphett Vale. Northside Wizards is a NBL1 North club based in Brisbane, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Northside Basketball Inc., the major administrative basketball organisation in northern Brisbane. The Wizards play their home games at South Pine Sports Complex. Angus Jack Glover (born 8 September 1998) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Eltham Wildcats of the NBL1 South. He is also contracted with the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League (NBL). Early life and career Glover grew up playing for the New South Wales Country basketball team. Carley Monika Ernst (; born 1 August 1994) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL Mijović began her professional career in 2009 when she joined the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) for the 2009–10 WNBL season. She managed just four games in her first season and went on to sit out the entire 2010–11 season after undergoing a second knee operation.
