2024 Mainland Football Leagues
The 2024 Mainland Football Leagues was the 25th season of football in the Mainland Football federation. There are four main men's leagues and four main women's leagues. The main men's leagues are Southern League, Canterbury Premiership League, Nelson Bays Premiership League, and Canterbury Championship League, respectively tier 2, 3, 3 and 4 among New Zealand men's league system. The main women's leagues are South Island League, Canterbury Women's Premiership League, Nelson Bays Women's Premiership League, and Canterbury Women's Championship League, respectively tier 2, 3, 3 and 4 among New Zealand women's league system. Along with the main football leagues, there are two main regional knockout cups and a charity cup. The main knockout cups are English Cup for men's teams and Reta Fitzpatrick Cup for women's teams. The charity cup is the Whero Cup for Canterbury Premiership League's reserve teams, Canterbury Championship League and Senior Men's Divisions 1 & 2 teams. ...

Mainland Football
Mainland Football is one of six federations of New Zealand Football, representing regions of Northern and Central Canterbury, Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast. History Canterbury United Pride was founded in 2002, to represent the region for the New Zealand Women's National League from its inaugural season in 2002 onwards. Canterbury United Dragons was founded in 2002 as a conglomerate of various Christchurch area clubs, in order to form a strong team to take part in the 2002 New Zealand National Soccer League. In 2004, the league was replaced by the New Zealand Football Championship, run on a regional franchise basis, and Canterbury United became one of the eight competing teams. In 2021, the league was replaced by New Zealand National League for more of a club based competition, causing the Canterbury Dragons to dissolve. FC Twenty 11 is a New Zealand amateur football club based in the city of Christchurch. The club was formed in 2011 following the merger of Avon United and Burnside A.F.C. The club is based in the western part of Christchurch and draw most of their players from Avonhead, Riccarton, Burnside, Fendalton, Ilam, Bryndwr and Hornby. Canterbury Championship League
The Canterbury Championship League, also known as New World (supermarket), New World Canterbury Championship League for sponsorship reasons, is a league competition run by Mainland Football for association football clubs located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is at the fourth tier of New Zealand Football, below the Canterbury Premiership League and above the Canterbury Senior Men's Division 1. The competition currently runs between March and August each year, and consists of ten team based in Christchurch. There are 18 round where the teams play each other twice. English Cup (Christchurch)
The English Cup, is an annual New Zealand knockout football competition for Mainland Football men's first teams. First played during the 1913 season, it has been running on for 10 years longer than the Chatham Cup. It is organised by and named after Mainland Football. It has been known as the Morrison Mitsubishi English Cup after itheadline sponsor A concurrent Women's Cup has been held since 1974 called Reta Fitzpatrick Cup. Women's South Island League (New Zealand)
The Women's South Island League is an amateur status league competition run by Southern Football and Mainland Football for Association football clubs located in the South Island of New Zealand. It is at the second level of New Zealand Football behind the national association based New Zealand Women's National League, and the highest level of club based football available to teams within the region. In March 2023, New Zealand Football announced a change to the Women's National League to move to a fully club-based model, the same as the three regional leagues of the men's competition, when club capability allows. Targeted for 2026, South Island clubs will be competing in the Women's National League. The New Zealand league system is the structure of leagues nationally and regionally, updated for the 2021 season. The system previously had a path from grassroots to the top flight but that stopped in 2004, with the New Zealand Football Championship being created as a replacement to the former New Zealand National Soccer League.
