2024 Campeonato Paraibano
The 2024 Campeonato Paraibano de Futebol is the 114th edition of Paraíba's top professional football league. The competition started on 17 January 2024 and is scheduled to finish on 7 April 2024. Format The format of the competition remains unchanged from the 2023 season, and consists of a group stage where each of the ten teams face each other once. The top four proceed to a knockout semi-final and final, each over two legs. The bottom two teams in the group stage will be relegated to the second division. The semi-final is drawn according to finishing places in the group stage. First played fourth and second played third, with the higher placed team at home in the second legs. The best performing team in the semi-finals will be at home in the second leg of the final. Qualification The two finalists will qualify to participate in the 2025 Copa do Brasil, unless they obtain qualification via other means, in which case the place will pass to the third-placed team. The Campeonato Paraibano is the football league of the state of Paraíba, Brazil. Format As in any other Brazilian soccer championship, the format can change and be adapted every year, mostly to avoid conflicts for the teams that will compete at a national level. Sousa Esporte Clube, commonly known as Sousa, is a Brazilian football team based in Sousa, Paraíba state. They competed in the Série C and in the Copa do Brasil three times. Sousa is currently ranked fourth among Paraíba teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 143rd place overall. History The club was founded on July 10, 1991. Ranielle Damaceno Ribeiro (born 25 August 1979) is a Brazilian professional football coach, currently the head coach of Ferroviário. Career Born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Ribeiro was a futsal player for hometown sides América de Natal and ABC before retiring. He later became a fitness coach at his last club, being also an interim manager on several occasions between 2011 and 2017. Ribeiro was definitely appointed manager of ABC on 29 November 2017, for the ensuing campaign. He was dismissed on 13 May 2019, and took over Lagarto on 24 October of that year. Pombal is a Brazilian municipality in the State of Paraíba. Located at an altitude of 184 meters. Patos is a municipality of the state of Paraíba in the Northeast Region of Brazil. It is classified by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics as a sub-regional center A. Nacional Atlético Clube, usually known as Nacional de Patos or simply as Nacional is a Brazilian football club from Patos, Paraíba state. The club was founded in 1961, and in 1989 competed in the Brazilian Championship Second Level and in 2005 and in 2007 competed in the Brazilian Championship Third Level. Its home matches are played at José Cavalcanti Stadium. History On December 23, 1961, the club was founded by employees of federal institutions, such as the Correios, and other institutions. The club's colors were originally green and yellow, but later the green and white were adopted as Nacional's official colors. Francisco Diá
Francisco de Assis Ciríaco dos Santos (born 5 November 1955), known as Francisco Diá, is a Brazilian football coach. Career Born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Diá started his career with hometown side Força e Luz in 1995. He took over ABC in the following year, and then worked with Penapolense, São Gonçalo-RN and Alecrim before returning to ABC in 2004. In 2009, while in charge of Alecrim, Diá achieved promotion to the Série C with the club before leaving. In October, he was appointed América de Natal, and left the club in the following month to take over Mogi Mirim after avoiding relegation in the Série B. Diá was sacked by Mogi in February 2010, after five consecutive defeats, and subsequently returned to América. He resigned from his latter club in March, and worked with Botafogo-PB for the remainder of the year.
