2024 Brazilian Music Award
The 2024 Brazilian Music Awards (), the 31st edition of the ceremony, was held at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro on June 12, 2024, to recognize the best in Brazilian music of 2023. Hosted by actress Regina Casé, the ceremony was broadcast live on Canal Brasil and the Brazilian Music Awards YouTube channel. Tim Maia was honored at the ceremony. Theatro Municipal (Rio De Janeiro)
The Theatro Municipal ("Municipal Theater") is an opera house in the Centro district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built in the early twentieth century, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful and important theaters in the country. The building is designed in an eclectic style, inspired by the Paris Opéra of Charles Garnier. The outside walls are inscribed with the names of classic European and Brazilian artists. It is located near the National Library and the National Fine Arts Museum, overlooking the spacious Cinelândia square. Edson Cordeiro
Edson Cordeiro (born February 9, 1967) is a Brazilian sopranist countertenor and pop and jazz singer. Life and career Cordeiro was born in Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil. He began singing at 6 years old when he joined a church choir called "Cordeirinhos do Senhor". He became famous as a street singer. He had his first TV performance with his own version of the aria of the " Queen of the Night" ( W. A. Mozart). In 1996, he won the Prêmio Sharp for the best Brazilian pop singer. Cordeiro first toured Europe in 1995. He was greatly acclaimed after his concerts, especially in Germany, where he also performed on national TV. His repertoire ranges from opera and lieder to traditional Brazilian folksongs to 1970s disco music. Wilson Das Neves
Wilson das Neves (June 14, 1936 – August 26, 2017) was a Brazilian percussionist and singer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was a key figure in the history of Brazilian music, having played with many of Brazil's greatest musicians across many decades and featured on numerous important recordings. Wilson was a very important artist specially for Brazilian popular music as a sambista, composer, and instrumentalist, with over 50 years dedicated to music. Lula Galvão (born Luiz Guilherme Farias Galvão in 1962) is a Brazilian guitarist and arranger. Wanderléa Charlup Boere Salim (born June 5, 1944 in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais) is a Brazilian singer and former co-host of the historic television show ''Jovem Guarda'' alongside Roberto Carlos (singer), Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos. Rosa Passos
Rosa Passos (; born April 13, 1952) is a Brazilian singer and guitarist. Passos began playing piano at age thirteen, but after listening to Dorival Caymmi and João Gilberto she abandoned the instrument to become a singer. In the late 1960s, she began appearing on television and at music festivals. In 1972 she submitted the song "Mutilados" under a pseudonym to the Globo Network's Festival Universitario and won first prize. She recorded her debut album in 1978, working with poet Fernando de Oliveira. A follow-up effort, ''Amorosa'', followed nine years later, in 1988.
