2024 Athletissima
The 2024 Athletissima was the 48th edition of the annual outdoor athletics meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland. Held on 22 August at the Stade olympique de la Pontaise, it was the 11th leg of the 2024 Diamond Leaguethe highest level international track and field circuit. The men's pole vault competition was held one day earlier on 21 August. Highlights At the meeting, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who held the fastest time of the year in the men's 1500 m but did not earn a medal in that event at the Paris Olympics, defeated Olympic gold medallist Cole Hocker to set a meeting record of 3:27.83. Emmanuel Wanyonyi also set a new world lead and Diamond League record in the 800 m, running 1:41.11. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the 2024 Diamond League finals. Sondre Guttormsen (born 1 June 1999) is a Norwegian athlete specialising in the pole vault. He is a European Indoor Championships gold and bronze medallist. Guttormsen won the gold medal at the 2023 European Indoor Championships and the bronze medal at the 2025 European Indoor Championships. He is also a European U23 Championships and European U18 Championships bronze medallist, three-time NCAA champion and four-time Norwegian national champion. Joseph Fahnbulleh (born 11 September 2001) is a Liberian-American sprinter. An Olympic finalist, Fahnbulleh is a double NCAA champion and finished fourth at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the 200 meters race. Jereem Richards (born 13 January 1994) is a Trinidadian track and field sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres and 400 metres events. Jacob Wooten (born April 22, 1997) is an American pole vaulter. He was the runner-up at the 2023 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the pole vault. Biography Wooten is from Tomball, Texas where he attended Tomball Memorial High School. He won the 2014 University Interscholastic League Division 5A state meet in the pole vault, as well as the 2015 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships.
