2023–24 Liga I
The 2023–24 Liga I (also known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons) is the 106th season of the Liga I, the top Romanian professional league for association football clubs. The season started on 14 July 2023 and concluded on 27 May 2024. It is the ninth season to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced. FC Politehnica Iași (2010), Politehnica Iași, ASC Oțelul Galați, Oțelul Galați, and FC Dinamo București, Dinamo București joined as the promoted clubs from the 2022–23 Liga II. Following the 2–1 home defeat of title contenders and defending champions FCV Farul Constanța, Farul Constanța on 27 April, FCSB officially secured their first Liga I title in nine years; it was also the club's first title since changing its name from ''FC Steaua București'' in early 2017. FCU 1948 Craiova Fotbal Club, commonly known as FC U Craiova 1948 or simply FC U Craiova, is a Romanian professional Association football, football club based in Craiova, Dolj County, that competes in the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system, Romanian league system. Asociația Fotbal Club Botoșani (), commonly known as FC Botoșani or simply Botoșani, is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Botoșani, Botoșani County, that competes in the Liga I. Asociația Fotbal Club Chindia Târgoviște (), commonly known as Chindia Târgoviște or simply Chindia, is a Romanian professional football club based in Târgoviște, Dâmbovița County, that competes in the Liga II. Clubul Sportiv Mioveni (), commonly known as CS Mioveni or simply Mioveni, was a Romanian professional football club based in Mioveni, Argeș County, that competed in the Liga II. The team was founded in 2000 as ''AS Mioveni'' and began playing the fourth division. The following year, it merged with nearby Dacia Pitești and took its berth in the Divizia C. Fotbal Club Unirea Dej, commonly known as Unirea Dej, is a Romanian professional football club based in Dej, Cluj County, that competes in the Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football. It is one of Romania's oldest football teams, founded in 1921, although it never reached the Liga I. Unirea's home field, Stadionul Unirea, has 5,000 seats. FCV Farul Constanța (), commonly known as Farul Constanța or simply as Farul, is a Romanian professional Association football, football Club (organization), club based in the city of Constanța, Constanța County, that competes in the Liga I. 2022–23 Liga II
The 2022–23 Liga II (referred to as the Liga II Casa Pariurilor for sponsorship reasons) was the 83rd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contest the league. It is the seventh Liga II season with a single series. The first two teams will be promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fourth-placed team will play a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I. The last five teams will be relegated to Liga III. The season began on 6 August 2022 and is scheduled to end in June 2023. Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table.
