2023–24 Cape Town Tigers Season
The 2023–24 season of the Cape Town Tigers was the 4th season in the team's history. Following their championship in the 2023 Basketball National League (BNL), the Tigers played in the Road to BAL. Under Florsheim Ngwenya as head coach, the Tigers went undefeated (5–0) in the qualifiers, and thus they will play in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for a third straight season. In the 2024 BAL season, the Tigers struggled in the Kalahari Conference, which was hosted in South Africa. In the playoffs, entering as the 8th seed, they managed to oust favorites FUS Rabat in the quarterfinals. After losing to Petro de Luanda in the semifinals and the Rivers Hoopers in the third place game, they finished in fourth place, the best result in Tigers' history. The Tigers were supposed to play in the 2024 BNL season in July 2024, however, they withdrew because of budgetary reasons. Cape Town Tigers
The Cape Town Tigers are a South African professional basketball team founded in Cape Town. The Tigers have played in the Basketball National League (BNL) and played in three seasons of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) between 2022 and 2024. Established in 2019, the Tigers are based in Gugulethu, and have won the South African national championship three times, and qualified for the BAL through the Road to BAL three times. History The Cape Town Tigers (Pty) Ltd. was founded in 2019 by U.S.-based holding company Severus LLC. The Tigers' first roster featured American import players Davon Dillard, Shaq McFarlan and Nigerian import Austin Ajukwa. Israel Oyoro Otobo (born 31 May 2004) is a Nigerian professional basketball player who currently plays for the City Oilers). Playing at Centre, he has played for the Nigeria national team since 2023. Joe Guibert Nijimbere (born 26 December 1996) is a Burundian basketball player for Kepler and the Burundi national basketball team. Early life Nijimbere was born on 26 December 1996 in Mutanga-Nord, a suburb of Bujumbura, the largest city in the country. He was the second of 9 children. Terry Elijah Larrier (born August 15, 1995) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Santos del Potosí of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. He played college basketball for the VCU Rams and the UConn Huskies. Dynamo Basketball Club, also known simply as Dynamo, is a basketball club based in Bujumbura, Burundi. Established in 1968, the team competes in both the Viva Basketball League and the Bujumbura Amateurs Basketball Club Association (ACBAB).
