Guibert Nijimbere
Joe Guibert Nijimbere (born 26 December 1996) is a Burundian basketball player for Kepler and the Burundi national basketball team. Early life Nijimbere was born on 26 December 1996 in Mutanga-Nord, a suburb of Bujumbura, the largest city in the country. He was the second of 9 children. He grew up attending his father's Sunday league basketball games with his three brothers, all of whom ended up playing the sport. Career Starting his career for New Star in 2013, he became the youngest player to play at Burundi's highest level at the age of 16. In 2017, Nijimbere signed with IPRC-Kigali in Rwanda. In 2019, he joined Patriots BBC and was part of the team that qualified for the 2020 BAL season. He was named MVP of the 2019 Genocide Memorial Tournament and won the three-point contest in that year's All-Star game. 2024 BAL Qualification
The qualification for the 2024 BAL season, also known as Road to BAL 2024, was the 4th edition of the qualifying tournaments for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The tournaments were organised by FIBA Africa and are held from 3 October to 26 November 2023. The format was the same as to the previous seasons, with the competition divided in the group phase and the elite 16. In the West Division, Bangui Sporting Club won the division and became the first team from the Central African Republic to qualify. Runners-up were FUS Rabat and Al Ahly Benghazi finished third, and became the first team from Libya to qualify. Urunani BBC is a Burundian basketball club based in Bujumbura. Nicknamed ''"Sisi Wenyewe"'', the team plays in the Viva Basketball League (VBL). Since 1979, Urunani has won more than 15 titles of national champions of Burundi (some years the national championship was not held for several reasons).
