2023–24 Al-Shorta SC Season
The 2023–24 season was Al-Shorta's 50th season in the Iraq Stars League, having featured in all 49 previous editions of the competition. Al-Shorta participated in the Iraq Stars League as defending champions, as well as competing in the Iraq FA Cup. Al-Shorta did not participate in the AFC Champions League as they did not obtain an AFC license. Al-Shorta won the league title for the third consecutive season, led by Moamen Soliman, who returned to the club to take over from Chiheb Ellili midway through the season. Al-Shorta secured the league title in the penultimate round of the season by defeating Duhok 1–0. Al-Shorta SC
Al-Shorta Sports Club () is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Iraq, Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 19 different sports, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. Al-Shorta was formally established as a sports club in 1978 after a clubs-only policy was introduced to Iraqi football. Al-Shorta's football team is one of the most successful in Iraq, having won the Iraq Stars League seven times and the Iraq FA Cup once, completing the domestic Double (association football), double in the 2023–24 Al-Shorta SC season, 2023–24 season. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). Ali Husni Faisal (; born 23 May 1994), is an Iraqi footballer and Olympian who plays as a winger for Iraq Stars League club Al-Karma and the Iraqi national team.
