2023 Kakkonen
The 2023 Kakkonen was the 51st season of Kakkonen, the third-highest football league in Finland. The season began on 21 April 2023 and ended on 8 October 2023. It was the final season of the Kakkonen serving as the third-tier football league in Finland, following its demotion to fourth-tier. The three groups winners and the highest-ranked runner up qualified for the Kakkonen Championship play-offs, with the winners ( PK-35 Vantaa) and runners-up (JIPPO) being promoted to the 2024 Ykkösliiga. The second, third, fourth, and fifth-placed teams in each group (minus the highest-ranked runner-up) qualified for the Kakkonen play-offs; the five winners ( Atlantis, Klubi 04, PK Keski-Uusimaa, RoPS, and VIFK) joined the highest-ranked runner-up (Jazz Pori), the two losing semi-final teams from the Kakkonen Championship play-offs (EPS and OLS), and the two teams relegated from the 2023 Ykkönen ( JJK and KPV) in the 2024 Ykkönen. Kakkonen
Kakkonen or II divisioona is the third level in the league system of Finnish football and comprises 36 Finnish football teams. The II divisioona was introduced in 1973 and in the mid-1990s became known as the Kakkonen ( Finnish for 'Number Two'; sv, Tvåan). Sakari Tukiainen finished the season 2014 as the top goal scorer and setting a new league record with 40 goals for the Kakkonen. Petter Meyer finished the 2015 as the top goal scorer for GrIFK with 23 goals. League structure For the 2012 season the format of the Kakkonen has been changed with the league divided in 4 groups of 10 teams, each representing a geographical area. Every club plays each of the others in the same group three times. Clubs gain three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. Kuopion Elo (originally Männistön Elo) is a football club from Kuopio, Finland. They currently play in Nelonen, fifth tier of Finnish football. Elo is the oldest existing football club in Kuopio History Kuopion Elo was founded as Männistön Elo by local working class youth in 1919. In past club has also played other sports. From early on their home area have been Männistö and Itkonniemi districts north of Kuopio city center. At the beginning they played only against Kuopion Riento. They played their first match in 1919. Kolmonen or III divisioona is the fourth level in the league system of Finnish football and comprises 104 Finnish football teams. The III divisioona was introduced in 1973 and in the mid-1990s became known as the Kolmonen (''Number Three'' in English and ''Trean'' in Swedish). JJK Jyväskylä (JJK; full name Jyväskylän Jalkapalloklubi) is a Finnish football club, based in Jyväskylä. JJK plays its home matches at Harjun Stadion. History Early years 1923–1992 Jyväskylän Palloilijat (abbreviated JyP), the predecessor of JJK, was founded in December 1923. In addition to football JyP had also a pesäpallo team and a bandy team. The 2023 Ykkönen was the 52nd season of Ykkönen, the second highest football league in Finland. The season began on 14 April 2023 and ended on 7 October 2023. It was the final season of the Ykkönen serving as the second-tier football league in Finland, following its demotion to third-tier. Twelve teams contested the league. The champions ( EIF) and runners-up ( Gnistan) were promoted to the 2024 Veikkausliiga. The second, third, and fourth-placed teams (Gnistan, MP, and SJK Akatemia) qualified for the Veikkausliiga play-off. The bottom two teams ( JJK and KPV) were relegated to the 2024 Ykkönen. The sixth-placed team (HIFK) dissolved after the season finished due to bankruptcy, giving the tenth-placed team ( KäPa) a reprieve from relegation.
