2023 Columbus Crew Season
The 2023 Columbus Crew season is the club's twenty-eighth season of existence and their twenty-eighth consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of soccer in the United States. The first match of the season was on February 25 against the Philadelphia Union. It is the first season under head coach Wilfried Nancy. Columbus Crew
The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. The Haslam/Edwards group is the third ownership group in club history. The franchise was founded in 1994. Its stadium is Lower.com Field, opened in 2021. From 1999 to 2021, the Crew played home games at Historic Crew Stadium (formerly Mapfre Stadium and Columbus Crew Stadium), the first soccer-specific stadium built for an MLS team, with a seating capacity of 19,968 as of the 2015 season. Eloy Victor Room (born 6 February 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Born in the Netherlands, he represents the Curaçao national team. Club career Vitesse Room joined Vitesse at the age of thirteen, having played for numerous clubs, including SCE, local rivals NEC Nijmegen, and Union. After impressing for the Vitesse youth sides, Room was promoted to the first-team squad for the 2008–09 campaign. Christian Ramirez (born April 4, 1991) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Early life and education Born in Santa Ana, California, Ramirez attended La Quinta High School in Westminster, California near his hometown of Garden Grove where he played center midfield and forward. As a freshman, he scored 17 goals and tallied 10 assists. During his sophomore year, he scored 18 goals and served eight assists. He opted not to play for the high school team during his junior and senior seasons. Isaiah Parente (born March 16, 2000) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for MLS side LA Galaxy. Career Youth career A youth product of Team Challenger FC, Parente was also part of the Columbus Crew academy between 2015 and 2018, making a total of 68 appearances and scoring 15 goals. College & Amateur In 2018, Parente went to play college soccer at Wake Forest University, choosing Wake Forest over Duke, Clemson, Akron, Ohio State and Pitt. Yaw Yeboah (born 28 March 1997) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a right winger for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Career Right to Dream Academy Yeboah joined the Right to Dream Academy in 2008 and graduated in 2014. Manchester City Yeboah joined Manchester City in 2014. Kevin Reginald Molino (born 17 June 1990) is a Trinidadian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew and the Trinidad and Tobago national team. The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Darlington Joephillip Nagbe (born July 19, 1990) is an professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer. Born in Liberia, he represented the United States national team. Nagbe spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Portland Timbers, winning the MLS Cup with the club in 2015, before being acquired by Atlanta United following the 2017 season.
