2023 Campeonato Mato-Grossense
The 2023 Campeonato Mato-Grossense de Futebol is the 81st edition of the Mato Grosso's top professional football league. The competition began on 21 January, and is scheduled to end on 8 April. Cuiabá are the defending champions. Cacerense and Sport Sinop were relegated at the end of the first round, with Cacerense immediately returning to the second division after one year, and Sport Sinop, after two years. Cuiabá won their 12th title on 8 April 2023, after a 3–0 aggregate win over União; with 12 wins and one draw in 13 matches, the club won their title in an unbeaten status. Format On the first stage, all ten teams play against each other in a round-robin format. The two worst teams are relegated, while the top two teams qualify straight to the semifinals, and the other four best-placed teams qualify to the quarterfinals. 2024 Copa Verde
The 2024 Copa Verde is the 11th edition of the football competition held in Brazil. Featuring 24 clubs, Acre, Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Pará and Tocantins have two vacancies; Amapá, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Roraima with one each. Ivo Ricardo Abreu Vieira (born 10 January 1976) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a defender, currently head coach of Brazilian club Cuiabá. Arena Pantanal
Arena Pantanal is a multi-use stadium in Cuiabá, Brazil. Completed on 26 April 2014, it is used mostly for football and hosted four group stage matches during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. During the World Cup, the arena had a capacity of 41,390, and currently can seat 44,003 spectators. Prior to its use for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the venue received much criticism. It suffered a fire in October 2013, due to polystyrene insulation panels catching alight. Although nobody was injured, the fire came within 24 hours of the state governor of Mato Grosso warning that it may not be finished for the World Cup. On the day of its opening, on 24 April 2014, 5,000 seats were still to be installed in the stadium.
