2023 Bahrain Darts Masters
The 2023 Bahrain Darts Masters was the first staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the first event in the 2023 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (8 PDC representatives and 8 Asian representatives), and was held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain on 12–13 January 2023. Michael Smith won the inaugural staging of the event, and his third World Series title, defeating Gerwyn Price 8–6 in the final. The event was announced on 26 September 2022, alongside the 2023 Nordic Darts Masters, which are to be held a week later. Prize money The total prize fund is expected to be at £60,000. Qualifiers The PDC announced 7 of their 8 players who are their elite representatives at the event on 13 December 2022, and did not include Michael van Gerwen, who couldn't attend for family reasons. Bahrain International Circuit
The Bahrain International Circuit ( ar, حلبة البحرين الدولية, Ḥalba al-Baḥrayn ad-Dawliyya) is a motorsport venue opened in 2004 and used for drag racing, GP2 Series (now FIA Formula 2), and the annual Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix. The 2004 Grand Prix was the first held in the Middle East. Beginning in 2006, Australian V8 Supercars raced at the BIC, with the event known as the Desert 400. However, the V8 Supercars did not return for the 2011 V8 Supercar season. 24 Hour endurance races are also hosted at BIC. The circuit has a FIA Grade 1 license. The circuit also has multiple layouts. Michael Van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen (; born 25 April 1989) is a Dutch professional darts player. He is currently PDC Order of Merit, ranked number 3 in the world, having been number 1 from 2014 to 2021. He is also a three-time PDC World Darts Championship, PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2014 PDC World Darts Championship, 2014, 2017 PDC World Darts Championship, 2017 and 2019 PDC World Darts Championship, 2019. Van Gerwen is regarded as one of the best players of all time. Van Gerwen began playing darts at the age of 13. World Series Of Darts
The World Series of Darts is a series of darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Beginning in 2013, the World Series has comprised between two and seven tournaments across the world, where a mixture of the top-ranked PDC players take on local qualifiers in a knockout format. 2023 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2022/23 Cazoo World Darts Championship) is the upcoming 30th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event will take place at the Alexandra Palace in London from 15 December 2022–3 January 2023. is the defending champion, after defeating 7–5 in the 2022 final. Format All matches will be played as single in, double out; requiring the players to score 501 points to win a leg, finishing on either a double or the bullseye. Matches will be played to set format, with each set being the best of five legs (first to three). PDC Order Of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Following the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship it superseded a world ranking system based on points being awarded for performances in ranking tournaments. How it works The Order of Merit is similar to that employed in golf's European Tour. Prize money won during the previous two seasons is calculated and the rankings are determined from this money list. Jonny Clayton
Jonny Clayton (born 4 October 1974) is a Welsh professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Nicknamed The Ferret, he was half of the Welsh team that won the 2020 PDC World Cup of Darts before winning his first televised singles title, the 2021 Masters, which would lead him to qualifying for the 2021 Premier League Darts, which he would go on to win as well. He subsequently won his first ranked televised title at the 2021 World Grand Prix. Career 2015 Clayton joined the PDC Pro Tour in 2015 after winning a Tour Card on the final day of Qualifying School against Jake Strong in a 6-0 whitewash, a result that "Strongy" seems to replicate on many occasions. 2023 Nordic Darts Masters
The 2023 Viaplay Nordic Darts Masters was the third staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, and the second entry in the 2023 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (eight 'elite' PDC players and eight regional qualifiers) and was held at the Forum Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark on 20–21 January 2023. Dimitri Van den Bergh was the defending champion, after defeating Gary Anderson 11–5 in the 2022 final. However, he lost to Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals. Price then lost to Peter Wright in the final, with Wright winning his fourth World Series title, his first since 2019, when he won the German Darts Masters. Gerwyn Stephen Price (born 7 March 1985) is a Welsh professional darts player and former professional rugby union and rugby league player. Nicknamed "The Iceman", he competes in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently the World No. 4. He is a 3-time Grand Slam Champion and a former world champion, becoming the first ever Welshman to win the tournament. He is also a former world No. 1.
