2023 Alsco Uniforms 300 (Charlotte)
The 2023 Alsco Uniforms 300 was the 12th stock car race of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the 42nd iteration of the event. The race was held in Concord, North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a tri-oval shaped racetrack. It was originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, but due to constant rain showers, the race was postponed until Monday, May 29, immediately following the Coca-Cola 600 Cup Series race on the same day. The race took the scheduled 200 laps to complete. Justin Allgaier, driving for JR Motorsports, was able to stretch out his fuel mileage during the final 20 laps, and earn his 20th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. Allgaier dominated the majority of the race as well, leading a race-high 83 laps. To fill out the podium, John Hunter Nemechek, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, and Cole Custer, driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, would finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Charlotte Motor Speedway (known as Lowe's Motor Speedway from 1999 to 2009 due to sponsorship reasons) is a quad-oval Oval track racing#Intermediate, intermediate speedway in Concord, North Carolina. It has hosted various major races since its inaugural season of racing in 1960, including NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA SportsCar Championship races. The facility is owned by Speedway Motorsports, Speedway Motorsports, LLC (SMI), with Greg Walter serving as its general manager. Charlotte Motor Speedway is served by U.S. Route 29. Cole Matthew Custer (born January 23, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 41 Ford Mustang (seventh generation), Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Haas Factory Team. Ollen Bruton Smith (March 3, 1927 – June 22, 2022) was an American motorsports executive and businessman. He was best known as the owner of two public companies, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) and Sonic Automotive. Smith held the positions of vice president and general manager of the Charlotte Motor Speedway and later was the chief executive officer (CEO) of both Speedway Motorsports and Sonic Automotive. He was an entrepreneur, race promoter, and businessman during the rise of stock car racing that began in the 1950s. Smith was born and raised near Oakboro, North Carolina. The Bank of America Roval 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race that is held annually at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, United States, it is one of two races held at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with the other one being the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend. As of the 2018 season, the event has been run as a 400 kilometer (248.5 mi) race using the infield road course configuration the track calls " The Roval" due to the combination of the Road Course and Oval. Reconfigurations to the Roval layout for the 2024 season onwards increased the length of the race to 407 kilometers (252.9 mi) while the lap count remained the same at 109. The Coca-Cola 600, originally the World 600, is an annual NASCAR Cup Series points race held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, on a Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. The first race, held in 1960, was also the first one held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is the longest race on NASCAR's schedule. It is unique for having track conditions that change throughout the race due to the race having a day to night transition, (if the race occurs on schedule with no delays or postponements).
