During the 2022–23 season, Jong Ajax participated in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, the 2nd tier of professional football in the Netherlands. It was their 9th consecutive season in the Eerste Divisie. Jong Ajax
Jong Ajax () (''English: Young Ajax''), also referred to as Ajax II or Ajax 2 is a Dutch association football team, the reserve team of Ajax. It is based in Amsterdam and competes in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. History Jong Ajax (''formerly more commonly known as Ajax 2'') is the reserve team of AFC Ajax. The team is composed mostly of professional footballers, who are often recent graduates from the highest youth level (Ajax A1), serving their first professional contract as a reserve, or players who are otherwise unable to play in the first team. Since 1992 Jong Ajax have competed in the Beloften Eredivisie, competing against other reserve teams such as Jong PSV, Jong FC Groningen or Jong AZ. It has won the Beloften Eredivisie title a record eight times, as well as the KNVB Reserve Cup three times, making it the most successful reserve squad in the Netherlands. Mateja Milovanović
Mateja Milovanović ( sr-Cyrl, Матеја Миловановић; born 18 April 2004) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Heerenveen. Born in the Netherlands, he is a youth international for the Serbia U19s. Personal life Milovanović was born in Vlaardingen in 2004. His father Viktor Milovanović was playing for Sparta Rotterdam at the time. Mateja has captained the Netherlands at youth level but has eligibility for Serbia through his family. Club career Milovanović signed a first professional contract with Ajax in 2021 to take him through to 2024. He had been with Ajax youth teams since 2018 when he switched from Sparta Rotterdam. Jorrel Hato (born 7 March 2006) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back or left-back for club Ajax and the Netherlands national team. Early life Born in Rotterdam, Hato moved from his hometown to Ajax in 2018. Julian Brandes
Julian Christiaan Brandes (born 11 May 2004) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Jong Ajax of the Eerste Divisie as a midfielder. Club Career Brandes joined the Ajax youth system on his eighth birthday in 2012. Brandes has had to overcome injuries, including missing much of the 2019–20 season. Charlie Terence Setford (born 11 May 2004) is a professional footballer who plays for Jong Ajax as a goalkeeper. Born in the Netherlands, he represents England at youth level. Career Setford was scouted by AFC Ajax at age 7, and he has been part of the club ever since. He featured regularly at every level of the club's youth system.
