2021 Croatian Local Elections
The first round of the 2021 Croatian local elections were held on 16 May and the Two-round system, second round, where necessary, on 30 May. All seats of the county prefects, city and municipal mayors and members of county, municipal and city councils were up for election. In total, there were 8,216 open seats to be contested by 38,223 candidates. Voters elected 20 county prefects, 128 city mayors, 428 municipal mayors and 7,640 others for positions of deputy county prefects, deputy city mayors, deputy municipal mayors, deputy city and municipal mayors elected by the national minorities, county councilors, city councilors and municipal councilors. About 3,660,000 voters had the right to vote. Before the elections were even held, the outcome was already settled in five towns including Hrvatska Kostajnica, Nin, Croatia, Nin, Novigrad, Istria County, Novigrad, Pakrac and Skradin, as well as 66 municipalities, because in all those instances there was only one candidate in the running. ... Damir Kajin
Damir Kajin (born 3 February 1962) is a Croatian politician. Born in Koper, he grew up in Buzet where he completed elementary school subsequently attending high school in Rijeka. Before starting his political career as the president of the Istria County Assembly in 1993, Kajin worked in Istrian water supply company for 12 years. He remained president of the assembly until 2001.;In 1995 he was elected member of the Croatian Parliament where he served multiple mandates. Kajin was the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) candidate in the 2009 Croatian presidential election. He won 3.87% of the vote in the first round and was eliminated. In 2013, Kajin was expelled from IDS. In 2014, he founded a new party, Istrian Democrats (). In 2016, he left the Istrian Democrats. Buzet
Buzet (; ; ) is a town in Istria, west Croatia, population 6,133 (2011). The historical core of Buzet dates back to the Middle Ages, and today Buzet is known as the town of truffles. Buzet is also known as the home of Croatian motorsport, and every year the "Buzetskidani" hill climb race is held here. It is currently part of the European Hill Climb Championship. History Already at the time of Venetian Republic, Venetian rule, Buzet supplied military stations and the local population with potable water. Buje
Buje (; ) is a town situated in Istria, Croatia's westernmost peninsula. Buje was known as the "sentinel of Istria" for its hilltop site located inland from the Adriatic Sea. History Buje has a rich history; traces of life in the region date back to prehistoric times. The town developed from a Roman and Venetian settlement into a medieval town. Buje was part of the Republic of Venice from 1358 until 1797, when the Treaty of Campo Formio handed it over to Austria. It was annexed by France after the Treaty of Schönbrunn in 1809 but restored to Austria at the Congress of Vienna in 1815. Buje passed to Italy at the end of World War I in 1918, where it remained until 1945. In 1947, it became part of the Free Territory of Trieste Zone B, which was administered by Yugoslavia. People's Party – Reformists ( or NS-R), also known just as the Reformists () is a liberal political party in Croatia. History The civil initiative for the establishment of the party was launched by former Croatian People's Party – Liberal Democrats (HNS) chief Radimir Čačić and his associates Natalija Martinčević and Petar Baranović. More than two-thirds of the party members are former members of the HNS which left the party because of disagreements with its leadership over the exclusion of Radimir Čačić from the party while he was serving a prison sentence for unintentionally causing a traffic accident with two fatalities. Benkovac () is a town and municipality in the Zadar County, Croatia. Geography Benkovac is located where the plain of Ravni Kotari and the karstic plateau of Bukovica, Croatia, Bukovica meet, 20 km from the town of Biograd na Moru and 30 km from Zadar. Belišće
Belišće () ( sr-Cyrl, Белишће, ) is a town in Croatia, located in the region of Slavonia, Osijek-Baranja County, at the altitude of 93 m. The population of the town is 6,518 (2011), with 10,825 in the municipality. In 2011 census, the majority were Croats.
