2019 Peruvian Segunda División
The 2019 Peruvian Segunda División, Liga 2 season was the 74th edition of the second tier of Peruvian Football Federation, Federación Peruana de Futbol. The season play started in April 2019 and ended on 1 December 2019. Competition modus The season has two phases: a home-and-away Round-robin tournament, round-robin phase and a liguilla (league). The team with the most points at the end of the first phase will be crowned 2019 Liga 2 champions and will be promoted to the 2020 Liga 1 (Peru), 2020 Liga 1. The teams who finished 2nd through 7th in the round-robin phase qualify to the liguilla which qualifies two teams to the 2019 Peruvian promotion play-offs. Seeds 4 through 7 play each other. The winners then play the teams in 2nd and 3rd place for a place in the promotion play-offs. The Peruvian Second Division (; known simply as ''Second Division'', and Liga 2 Caja Cusco for sponsorship reasons), officially known as Liga 2, is the second-highest division in the Peruvian football league system. Founded in 1943, it is a professional and promotional division organized by the Peruvian Football Federation. Since 2025, it has been contested by 15 teams, with promotion to the Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1, and relegation to the Peruvian Tercera División, Liga 3. 2019 Peruvian Promotion Play-offs
The 2019 Peruvian promotion play-offs or Cuadrangular de Ascenso 2019 will be held in December 2019 with all games being played at a neutral ground yet to be determined. The play-offs determined the third and fourth team to be promoted to the Liga 1 following that tournament's expansion. The teams placed 2nd and 3rd in the 2019 Liga 2 and 2019 Copa Perú will take part in the promotion play-offs. The top two placed team in the play-offs will gain promotion to the 2020 Liga 1 and the bottom two will qualify to the 2020 Liga 2. History Club Deportivo Social y Cultural Willy Serrato Puse was founded in 2012 after a group of businessmen from the Pimentel, Lambayeque region bought Club Corporación Espinoza's place in the local district League. The 2019 Copa Perú, Peru Cup season (), the largest amateur tournament of Peruvian Association football, football, started in February. This edition has featured a change, with the elimination of the Regional Stage and the inclusion of participants from all the Regions of Peru in the National Stage. The 2019 Liga 1 de Fútbol Profesional (known as the 2019 Liga 1 Movistar for sponsorship reasons) was the 103rd season of the highest division of Peruvian football. A total of 18 teams competed in the season, with Sporting Cristal coming in as defending champions. Binacional were the champions, winning their first league title by defeating Alianza Lima in the finals by a 4–3 aggregate score. Competition format The season will be divided into three stages: Torneo Apertura, Torneo Clausura, and the Playoffs.
