2019 La Course By Le Tour De France
The sixth edition of La Course by Le Tour de France, a women's cycling race held in France, took place on 19 July 2019. Route and organisation The race started and finished in Pau, taking in five laps of a hilly circuit covering 121 km. It was held before stage 13 of the men's 2019 Tour de France, which used one lap of the circuit as an individual time trial. The event was organised by ASO, which also organises the Tour de France. It was the 15th race of the 2019 UCI Women's World Tour. 2019 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2019 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-three road cycling events throughout the 2019 women's cycling season. It was the fourth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the Strade Bianche on 9 March and concluded with the Tour of Guangxi on 22 October. After just missing out in 2018, Marianne Vos () clinched her first UCI Women's World Tour title after a third-place finish in the final event of the season, the Tour of Guangxi. Amaury Sport Organisation
The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) is part of the French media group Éditions Philippe Amaury. It organises the Tour de France and other cycling races, as well as golf, running, sailing and off-road motorsport events. The president of ASO is Jean-Etienne Amaury, son of EPA founder Philippe Amaury. Cycling The Tour de France was instituted by the newspaper '' L'Auto'' in 1903. The paper was closed after World War II because of its links with the occupying Germans and a new paper, ''L'Équipe'', took over. Anna van der Breggen (born 18 April 1990) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2021 for Team Flexpoint, , and . Annemiek van Vleuten (born 8 October 1982) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Van Vleuten is a two-time winner of both the road race (2019 and 2022) and the time trial (2017 and 2018) at the UCI Road World Championships. Tour De France
The Tour de France () is an annual men's multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally passing through nearby countries. Like the other Grand Tours (the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España), it consists of 21 stages, each a day long, over the course of 23 days, coinciding with the Bastille Day holiday. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' " stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream.
